It was a little place in Palms in the late 80s/early 90s called MENAGERIE. They had a sweet and sour entrée called Awesome Salmon that I’ll never forget. And an ice cream dessert with caramelized brown sugar and almonds called Scrunch that I still dream of.

I love the old Gateway Building and mid-century tile mosaics. But if the city broke ground on a new LAX somewhere else – even if it took them 20 years to complete – I would still rejoice when they finally destroyed the old one. We’re a world class destination with a crap airport from the 60s.
