Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 14/09/2026I think the thing I’m trying to be better about is just being fine with throwing a bunch of unworkable Claude slopcode away and trying again. Turning those learnings into a better initial plan for better results. Just etch-a-sketch it. 030

Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 29/08/2026i honestly feel like recruiters are discriminating against candidates that aren’t currently employed. I’ve been helping out a friend that got laid off in Feb by forwarding his info to all the recruiters that cold email me. he hasn’t landed a job yet - but he’s been getting interviews out of this 🤷♀️ 110

Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 25/08/2026I mean I guess we just have to downgrade our instances and eat the latency cost if it comes to it. But like - big yikes 010
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 25/08/2026Honestly shook hearing them say this. Does this mean we can’t allocate additional disk capacity in our DBs until they resolve this?! Holy moly this feels like a ticking time bomb! 110
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 25/08/2026Ok now THIS is crazy. I’m hearing from our GCP rep that the reason we can’t provision any new database instances is because gcp-west1 has completely exhausted its SSD capacity 110
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 25/08/2026The future is so dumb. We can’t even operate normal software anymore because chatbot throughput is more important. 110
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 25/08/2026So now we can’t recreate our read replicas. Which don’t even need much resources in the first place! 32cpu and 128mem in 2 regions is all we’re asking for. We even have those resources back! But now they’ve already been allocated because everything is so oversubscribed. 110
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 25/08/2026Wow - apparently Google left us in a broken state where our read replicas are no longer able to replicate. Apparently the only solution there is to blow away our read replicas and re-create them. Except now that we’ve done that - GCP still doesn’t have any resources. 110
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 25/08/2026Rainy day? Yeah I should probably roast a chicken and make some stock 040
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 24/08/2026Man - AI has completely eaten up the clouds capacity. We straight up can’t do a Postgres major version upgrade because GCP doesn’t have the capacity available for a measly 64cpu/256gb mem in their “Enterprise Plus” node pool. Scheduled 2 maintenance windows and failed twice now. Ridiculous! 210
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 23/08/2026Ok! Crufty, overkill package stuttering removed! ```shell go install go.treyburn.dev/farkle@latest ``` 010
Travis Reyburn @treyburn.dev · 23/08/2026I should probably drop the /cmd/ stutter cruft too. You shouldn’t need to know any directory details to `go install` this thing. 110
