I have spent the morning so far listening to Del Amitri, who, together with Jean-Michel Jarre, Crowded House and Icehouse and Rachmaninoff were my absolute favourite music sources in the 1980s. Del Amitri put out an album a few years ago that I only found out about today.

The company wants a $1.5 trillion valuation. They are also screeching about AI safety and how they need to be slowed down. Maybe if they focused on safety from the start this wouldn’t be costing half a million dollars but given what they are spending on operations, half a million is negligible

Am I missing something or is the M4 station at Montparnesse completely inaccessible? I have transferred to/from Gare du Nord-Montparnasse twice lately with much lugging of heavy luggage, and it is, even without a bag, insufferable. But there isn’t even an escalator. At least I can lug. Wheelchairs?

Reading the article, it’s closer to two thirds to be frank. 34% want a conviction and another 31% want a report to the Gardai. The assumption is clearly that women are lying. I don’t consider that being a gobshite and more like being a misogynistic asshole.

This is an extraordinary piece of writing and while I wasn’t a researcher, I did my masters on unsupervised learning. I cannot recognise the AI LLM industry as AI and it isn’t what I loved about machine learning. It is worth especially reading to the end to understand the extent of opportunity cost

I have been donating money to the RNLI for more than 20 years. I no longer live in an area where they are likely to be called upon to save my life but while I was reconsidering whether to continue or not, I cannot justifiably stop. Not when I see what is being done to them at the moment.

We are talking about incredibly privileged individuals. Buy the crayons or do not. Buy the new box or do not. But these crayons which were not lined up to be available for long are now available again. And this time, in just one box. Anyone who isn’t pleased by this is nuts.

They are now available in a boxed set, probably linked to demand rather than planning. Still not open stock by the way. This is causing an incredible amount of howling. I struggle with the whinging to be honest. Mostly I find it incredible how many videos are devoted to this.

To be fair, those new colours are beautiful. I bought all of the 50th anniversary boxes last year which yes, caused duplication for some other colours. There was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth that they were distributed in 5 curated sets instead of 1 complete set.

Straight up - the crayon range in question is a superb product, whatever the colour. They are not very cheap, in the grand scheme of things. The whinging comes from some new colours which were released within some 50th anniversary box sets last year. Some of them are turning up in curated sets now.

My YouTube feed has lately been full of women whinging about Caran d’Ache re-releasing some limited edition colour crayons. It has, apparently, reached the level of Situation with a capital S. It is incredibly tedious to listen to. The crayons were not, still are not, available as open purchase.
