Economies don't work when money pools out into large, stagnant ponds; it's the *movement* of money that makes them work. That's why the economy took off when Clinton raised taxes on the rich: it was better to keep the money moving and everyone benefited *and* we got a balanced budget, too!

I went to college in Wooster OH, which is nestled in a fairly large Ohio Amish community, so yeah, this was a pretty common sight for me when I wandered off campus and into town. And really, there is something relaxing about the sound of a casually trotting horse.

The very fact that we cringe at the outdated -isms in older fiction is a good thing. It means we've progressed as a society, that we recognize that racism, sexism, LGBTQ+-phobia, etc., are all wrong. And we can and should hold modern creators to modern standards. It works the other way, too. 5/

I *love* Golden Age SF. And most of the stuff written in the 30s, 40s, 50s and even 60s is very straight white male-centric. But to expect a writer working in 1946 to have a 2026 outlook on race, gender and sexuality is at the very least a deep misunderstanding of the way that time works. 4/

I got it off Temu, actually. Five 250g skeins for about $13. Pretty significant glow even in a well lit room, at least when freshly charged. It really was clearly visible in a well-lit room.
