An actual problem among queer communities, including too many radicals, is reacting to this kind of obvious bullshit with an appeasing crouch and frantic self-criticism rather than the hard contempt our enemies deserve.

Asked elsewhere how I think folks should respond: * Refuse to treat obvious bad faith hitpieces like they're a sign of any real wider issue that needs some internal reckoning. Reality check those falling for it. * Go on the attack against the real problem: propagandists who pull this kind of shit.

Klapecki draws from her extensive experience — as a trans Catholic who faced discrimination firsthand —to deliver a searing examination of the church's hostile theology on trans people, its long record of attacks on us and how buying into its "progressive" facade does real damage to our lives.
"When one considers that the church also teaches that there are exactly two gender identities permitted by God, that those gender identities have specific, narrow roles, when those gender identities are unchanging and immutable, that gender confirmation surgery is a violation of the dignity of humanity alongside abortion, murder, and sexual violence, that “sexual difference” is a gift from God and attempts to alter or downplay it is itself a threat to damage, and that all human beings have a moral dignity that they can destroy while maintaining the valuable ontological dignity gifted from God?

Beyond all the rhetoric, all the philosophy, all the theology, all the caveating, the position is simple: God loves everyone, even the faggots. He just cannot tolerate what you’re doing, and that gives the church the authority to oppress you however they wish.

There is no actual difference between this position and a Protestant Evangelical mewling that he “loves the sinners, hates the sins.” There is no wiggle-room, no exception. In fact, the church spills far more ink on finding all of the different loopholes or potential methods one could interpret their theology in an affirming light than they ever do saying that transgender people are deserving of respect. We’re not, after all. We’re deserving of pity, prayer, and the fervent belief we will correct our errors of existence.

This lack of flexibility is intentional, as the Catholic Church seeks to tightly control doctrine and respond to the modern world in the way that suits it best. Rogue priests who are affirming, who defy these expectations, can expect stern reproaches and potentially even excommunication. These statements of doctrine are not negotiable, nor are they up for interpretation.

While it is not strictly impossible that these things may change in the future, the consistent stance of the Catholic Church has been that transgender individuals are living in sin..."

A spokesperson from the state Attorney General’s Office praised the ruling but condemned the language, saying that “decisions about the appropriate placement for an individual should be addressed case by case… rather than by mandating new across-the-board policies.” But the spokesperson added, “We strongly disagree with the court’s harmful language. Stop putting bullets in the gun that's killing us.'An image giving information on how to boycott the NYT. An on-fire NYT newspaper over a grey background, held by a hand with trans nail polish. Text reads 'Not one dime to the New York Times. Cancel all subscriptions to the NYT. Stop sharing articles, recipes, or anything else from their site (they get cash from clicks). Any "compromise" on trans rights is both deeply wrong in itself and lays groundwork for worse. Sports bans? Segregate us from part of public life, establish legal grounds for further discrimination. Healthcare bans for trans kids? More trans kids die and trans healthcare as a whole is endangered.

The NYT also makes money from clicks, so limiting the spread of their articles and columns — even to dunk on them, even if it's the rare piece that isn't horrific — helps curb their influence and cashflow. When they do need to be condemned, use a screenshot like you would with any hate site.
