Y’all, I’ve been trying to attend my local (Alameda County, CA) Democratic Party meetings for months now. Today I showed up in person and it’s behind a locked gate at the local Teamsters. In the Zoom, they won’t admit you unless you’re a member. How does someone actually join this organization?

My reading list this year so far: Erica Chenoweth on the 3.5% rule and civil resistance, Ezra Klein on abundance, Anne Applebaum (Autocracy, Inc.), and now Masha Gessen on the rise of Putin in Russia. So far everything I’ve read has been A+++.

I have once again come home to my roommates trying to do a principle components analysis on food (they’ve so far narrowed it down to all food items being either soup, cake, salad, or dumple; though I think a Nobel will go to the person who classifies banana successfully).
