I think we need trans organisations like @tacc.org.uk, @transactualuk.bsky.social, @translucent.org.uk, etc. to make preparations. To write to clinics which we use advising them that getting a “diagnosis” is nearing impossible in the UK and advising the clinics to make reasonable adjustments.

Delegates are nominated by their CLP. They are eventually issued with a pass. The conference is held in a security zone which is heavily policed. Its not possible to just turn up and attend.

Dear Amnesty International UK,
We are writing to convey our deep concern about your recent decision to withdraw the reports “A growing
threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK” and “Like a Snowball”, and your subsequent apology,
published 31st July 2026, to gender-critical and other anti-trans organisations.
We understand you have already received significant backlash, so we want to assure you that we are
writing in good faith and in a spirit of constructive engagement. As a trans-led advocacy group in the UK,
we are aware of the intense pressure you are under.
Given the near media monopoly enjoyed by gender critical organisations, we can understand the need you
felt to act swiftly and decisively. Unfortunately, we believe you’ll now find yourselves in an even more
difficult position. Gender critical organisations are already indicating that they don’t consider your
retractions and apology adequate. At the same time, a large portion of the LGBTQ+ community in the UK
has lost confidence in one of the few internationally-respected, human rights organisations.
The trans+ community, and our allies, have immense respect for Amnesty, as renowned advocates for
human rights around the world. Indeed, your website’s front page states in bold type "We fight for
people’s human rights everywhere". You have made, and continue to make, a positive difference to
countless lives.
As your reports clearly pointed out, there is presently a highly organised and well-funded attack on
LGBTQ+ rights happening across the globe, with a strong focus currently on trans+ rights.
Even within the wider global perspective, the UK stands out as having one of the worst rollbacks of LGBTQ+
rights in modern history outside of Russia and America. Trans+ people are now fleeing the country, some
leaving behind their friends and families.
What is most worrying in all of this is the complete withdrawal of both reports, with no indication of when,
or if, “Like a Snowball” will be updated and reissued....

The corpus analysis in Snowball was undertaken by
Dr Fraser Heritage, a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at Manchester Metropolitan University, and it appears
to be a high-quality piece of linguistic research.
When "Like A Snowball" was published, it was a beacon of light, flickering amidst the darkness of an almost
total capture of the media and the established UK human rights by the gender critical ideological
movement. Following up with "A Growing Threat" felt brave, and it clearly rattled many gender critical organisations.
We can understand why both were withdrawn if deemed not robust enough to defend against legal
challenge; however, the withdrawal without the possibility of a corrected reissue is, in our opinion, a step
too far.
To follow that with what seems like a forced apology, framed in gender critical terms, looks like
capitulation. It leaves our marginalised community feeling even more abandoned and isolated in the face
of relentless attacks on our rights, our healthcare, even our very existence.
The simple fact of producing these reports in the first place is a clear indicator of your organisation being
convinced there are serious human rights issues to address. If Amnesty doesn’t look to republish, then the
silence grows louder, and trans+ rights are further diminished.
We would like to request an urgent Google meeting with your CEO, Kerry Moscogiuri. A meeting where we
would discuss where this leaves Amnesty International UK in terms of defending LGBTQ+ rights in the
present UK wide hostile environment.
