So I believe Butler's notion of gender as a societal construct is just that, understanding how gender works as an overarching structure over society. It is an interesting framework but I don't believe it tries or should or can be used to understand gender as an internal construct that much.

Repetition here is closely tied to language and how things/words are given meaning. So gender is not performative as in 'you're whatever gender you're performing right now' but performative as something that needs to be signified and signaled to be understood and 'real' from an outside perspective.

The idea of performance is that identity is created through repetition. For a cis person, a boymoder is performing as a man. For a trans person that can recognize the codes created within trans spaces, a boymoder is performing boymode which kinda becomes a 'clearly not a man' gender of it's own.

oh yeah i sketched this lilac wiggle up forever ago for one of the freedom planet 2 anniversaries; meant for it to be a redux of the original freedom planet 1 little dancing easter egg, but "matured" in having been taught how to fight/dance formally wasn't really satisfied with it though
