Last night was the 13th anniversary of the day that the Giant Rubber Duck arrived in #Pittsburgh, and honestly it was one of my favorite nights of photography. This was the only night that it wasn't parked by the fountain at the Point, creating some unique and fun images.

Here’s a photo from a mostly empty parking garage in Springfield. I parked here for the New England Prototype Modelers Meet, and had to stay for a few extra minutes to take photos. I love neat brutalist setting (at least aesthetically - they often have lots of usability problems from poor design).

“Fun” discoveries while suffering as a live chemistry experiment (since none of my allergens show up in tests): my MCAS is so bad that I’m actually allergic to the main medication used to treat MCAS. Not just all the fillers they use in most commercial meds, mind you, the actual med itself. Why.

Random disabled urbanist complaint: the NYC subway network is so bad at accessibility and elevators in particular that I’m now thinking I should drive down instead of taking the much more pleasant train to visit one of my favorite cities. So infuriating.

I really need old people to stop saying stuff like “when you’re my age your body will [x]” when they can still walk up stairs and I can’t without triggering a flare up of my illness. Old people constantly assume they’re more disabled than everyone else, and that’s often not true and I’m sick of it.

Here’s an old transgender opinion I’ve held for a long time that feels obvious to me but apparently isn’t to too many other people: transitioning doesn’t inherently have to be hard or a big deal. It’s societal and medical system bullshit that makes it suck, but it doesn’t have to be that way.*

I really wish I’d known enough at the time to do some bandaid fixes to my Impreza wagon and kept her on the road for another year. I could have done a much smarter job searching for my new replacement Honda Fit, and I maybe could have done more affordable rust repairs to the Suby instead.

Being a newbie to cars is fun and exciting in that I have lots to learn, but it does make the prospect of attending car events filled with bros even more unappealing. I’m glad that I’ve found some cool queer car friends, but I both want to get out more, and really want to hide from the mens.
