I met Dolly by accident. We collided in a narrow hallway at a TV studio in Denver. All I saw was the top of her blonde hair. Then I heard the kindest Southern voice say, “Excuse me, are you alright?” When I realized who it was, she simply said, “I’m Dolly.” As if she needed an introduction. 😇😢

It’s amazing that out of the 6 photos Iain Macmillan took that Friday in 1969 on Abbey Road in St. John’s Wood - London, only frame 5 was any good, going on to become not just one of the most iconic album covers of all time but one of the most iconic photos of all time, period.
