Completed the available story content for Dune: Awakening. Good Dune story awkwardly attached to an MMO-esque game. Though hilariously, it's also an amazing game in its own right, so I also can't do much more than grumble about fetch quests and repeatedly traveling between social hubs.

To recap the start of my day, Windows 11 did the following: Scrambled my desktop icons, which I had meticulously arranged to my liking. Muted all my audio, and on restart presented it ultra-low quality at 1000% volume, and then fixed itself two restarts later. Scrambled my desktop icons AGAIN.

Actually pretty excited for an overhaul of Shogun 2 because it's a great Total War game but it's also much harder to love compared to modern games. It *feels* like it's 15 years old.

X4: Foundations is currently on a huge discount again. As always, very highly recommend it if you like space games with a good economics component. Also if you get the Community of Planets edition you can play the Star Wars mod!

Overall I'm pretty happy with Science Saru's Ghost in the Shell series. In some ways it does make me appreciate the decisions made for the movie and SAC series, but not in a way that makes me prefer one over the other for the most part. New one can feel confusing at times. SAC is very clear.

The more acquainted I get with sci-fi spaceship/space station modeling, the more I've come to appreciate the simplicity of lower-fidelity designs. 1 million polys of greebles? Nah. Just slap a nice texture on there. Couple panels and panel lines. The occasional square with a pipe on it. Easy.

One thing I've come to realize is that the Galactic Empire in Star Wars has a strong, developed design language both across canon and fanon works. Old, New, and High Republic though? Much of it is just pre-Imperial hardware! How am I gonna make New Republic stations without references!?

Brief update: I've captured enough footage for an X4 After the Fall mod run, which I'll be editing over the coming... weeks? Month? I also got access to the Anvil Empires playtest and got footage of that too, and might do a short video for it. That'd be like 10 minutes length at the most.

Counter-intuitively, one of the most frustrating things about WarThunder is when you actually have a great match. You can channel the ancestral tanker spirits and become a living calamity, and then Gaijin will be like: "Nice job. Here's 5% more rewards than if you had sucked."

Apparently, Kodansha and Shueisha have been going after fan communities of their IPs for over a month now. Witch Hat Atelier, Kagurabachi, and Blue Lock have all seen Discord communities shut down by copyright claims, subreddits targeted, etc. Destroying your own fandom is definitely a strategy...

Personal prediction: The end times for EVE Online's developer are just around the corner. Again. When they went independent again, apparently with Google Deepmind taking a 20% stake soon after, they said they'd rethink their FOMO sales strategy. Now they've skipped straight to tripling down on it.

Got around to Widow's Bay. Fun time. Maybe a liiiittle bit of drag in the middle, and the progression of events seemed a bit odd, but nothing I would consider to be problematic compared to the good parts of it. Some great humor, but didn't always land for me. Again, a small sin. Still a good show.
