Saw a praying mantis bro while I was out yardworkin’. That makes 3 that I’ve seen so far this year, which makes me so happy! I’m trying my best to make my yard a good home for all sorts of critters. With the end goal of having more wildflowers/tall grasses, and little to no lawn to mow.

People talk about “redemption” and “comebacks” for men who never faced real material consequences or, more importantly, actually stopped harming other people in the first place

And I speak of spiritual suffering! Of people seeing their talent, their work, their lives wasted. Of good minds submitting to stupid ones. Of strength and courage strangled by envy, greed for power, fear of change.

You are all in jail. Each alone, solitary, with a heap of what he owns. You live in prison, die in prison. It is all I can see in your eyes – the walls, the walls!

Right?? I get struck with that feeling so often when reading. I just have to stop for a second and appreciate that this person is baring a bit of their soul for me to look at on the page, which gives me more confidence to bare my own soul a bit more with my art.

But when we crave power over life—endless wealth, unassailable safety, immortality—then desire becomes greed. And if knowledge allies itself to that greed, then comes evil. Then the balance of the world is swayed, and ruin weighs heavy in the scale.

My favorite plot beat in The Mighty Ducks is when Adam Bank’s dad tries to gerrymander a congressional district so that his son can play Peewee hockey on the team that he wants. In this TED talk, we will discuss the film’s deft critique of the power abuses we suffer at the hands of the wealthy, wh-

Y'all probably miss art.

The image is black and white and depicts a hand drawn version of the tarot card "the star" as it's depicted in the rider-waite-smith meeting with a simplified version of an angel of the Lord. The angel is touching water being poured out from the two vases held by the woman under the star. The meeting is happening in the shade of clouds and juxtaposed by a tree, both of which are in the background.

this one is especially egregious

A single panel comic hand drawn illustration of Barret Wallace from FF7 gesturing disgustedly to a screenshot from nvidia's atrocious DLSS 5 slop that leaked, showing a photo of what was once Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is now a yassified Al model standing in a flatly lit Instagram environment. Barret's text box reads "We're killin' the planet for THIS shit?"

So good that I haven't had a lot of myself to spare for art of late, which I guess is an okay problem to have sometimes, but I miss creating things, so I'mma try to do more of that. Been pondering about maybe doing a "Seeker of the Week" where I just draw a random character from the world and write a little slice-of-life blurb about them. Not having them super-connected with the main story I think will help me flesh out the universe without too much "analysis paralysis".

Sorry for the lack of posts, still chewing on story beats and worldbuilding stuff and I figured I should sort that out before moving forward too much with writing/drawing. I dearly miss drawing vignettes and writing about my characters and world though...
