Thank you to everyone on #knitsky 🧶 who told me I was overthinking the bead thing.

The right half of a hand knit sweater that is unfinished. The body of the sweater is cream and it has blue beading on the right side by the armhole and pink beading on the right side by the hem. The hem is pink and blue colorwork ribbing that looks like vertical stripes. The sweater is sitting on my slightly wet back porch.

I just learned beads! Unfortunately they are on pause until more yarn arrives.

Okay #KnitSky 🧶 I need opinions on if these beads are the correct beads. I couldn’t find pink square ones so I went with round, but I think they’re too big compared to the blue. Pattern is Fashion Top by Pope Vergara. The blue beads will be the orange and the gold will be the white.

I don’t gatekeep good recipes. This one was my grandma’s and it’s truly the best thing I make, which is why it’s so annoying that it’s such a pain in the butt. Everything seems great and easy until you have to spread the second layer of the batter. Readable version in the alt text.

1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
2 cup flour
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
6 oz chocolate chips.

For cinnamon sugar: ½ cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon

Mix all ingredients except chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar.
Place ½ in bottom of a 13x9" greased pan. Sprinkle ½ of chocolate chips and ½ of cinnamon sugar. Spread remaining batter over top. Sprinkle rest of
chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar.
Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes

This part really sums it up for me, and why I’m so frustrated with a lot of the coverage of this Ebola outbreak (and the Hantavirus one).

The destruction of USAID will make it harder to control this Ebola outbreak, but it’s also a contributing factor to why this outbreak got so bad in the first place. I’m surprised we aren’t seeing this take more. Destroying USAID led to this.

I was given the task “send birthday cards to my friend’s grandma so she gets 90 for her 90th birthday and I did my job but I did only have dungeons and dragons stamps. At least they coordinate with the envelopes

I make this cake once a year because it’s such a pain in the ass, but it’s also one of the best recipes I have. A dead-iversary gift from me to the world.

A 13x9 pan with a chocolate chip and cinnamon sugar covered cake with a few squares cut out.

A recipe for what my family inexplicably calls Booger Cake.

¼ pound margarine (1 stick)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
2 cup flour
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
6 oz chocolate chips.
For cinnamon sugar: ½ cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon
Mix all ingredients except chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar.
Place ½ in bottom of a 13x9" greased pan. Sprinkle ½ of chocolate chips and ½ of
cinnamon sugar. Spread remaining batter over top (tip: use a clean spatula
to spread second half of batter so it spreads easier). Sprinkle rest of
chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar.
Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes ish
