All's Fair is an erotic RPG which means that on itch it won't come up in searches or show up on the Popular games page. Which is of course bad because puritanism blah blah BUT it does mean I can delude myself into believing it's the best selling game on itch and how would you even prove me wrong

A thing I learned not too long ago is that when an LLM selects a token that leads it down an incorrect path (factually), it has no way to back up, or even know that it should back up, it's just on to the next likely bit. Literally every LLM is just posting their way through it. What an image.

We can learn from our queer elders 🫶🏻
bisubites 4h
when my masc lesbian aunt died, women just kept coming, screaming, crying, and saying they were her wives. Eventually we just had to start telling them to join the others. They were all devastated to learn about each other. Except for one who came in, kissed her dead mouth and showed us all that they had matching tattoos. She actually won all the mourning wives over and they all agreed she was the wife. It was so weird.Did not expect more than a few people to see this but yes it really happened, yes it was insane

It's literally called the postal SERVICE, not the postal BUSINESS or the postal profit center. It's a thing we operate because communication and shipping are literal public goods. I'd argue it should be expanded to cover more, but I won't get into that tonight.

Having written a TV show built on "deep dives on one bad rich guy per week" with one version 2008-2012 and another 2021-2025, I'll say that the OG evil rich guys were evil greedy assholes, and the new rich guys are mentally disordered perverts, and so do evil. And not the good kind of perverts.

Fun facts: Dumping heat in space is actually extremely difficult, because you're in a huge vacuum flask. Signal latency will always be limited by lightspeed and line of sight. Humans still need access to fix machines by hand. And a final exercise for the reader: Look up "Kessler Syndrome."

Listen, I just think it's weird that the same people who are saying they're worried that AI is going to wipe out humanity are also eager for military contracts that will give AI control of weapons.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was pretending gambling was a "prediction market." Societally we already have a concept of what to expect from a bookie who also makes loans to his customers, and it's wild to call that "margin trading in the prediction market."

A fun feature of the direction social media took is that fairly regularly a disturbing, harmful image will hit the news and generate viral Discourse™ and the result is a bunch of people repeatedly shoving the harmful image in the spaces where you also try to keep up with people you care about.

OK, I have to admit it, all over the world, Donald Trump's presidency has spurred on unlikely alliances and agreements one might have believed unreasonable a short decade ago. None to the benefit of the US, all spurred by the need to treat us like the threat we clearly are... but still...

A) So many characters are appearing in this thing that it's impossible for all of them to actually meaningfully matter. B) I'm so sick of the idea that every piece of media in a continuity has to "lead" into bigger events. C) This is why superhero fatigue is happening in the first place.

I don’t want to get all “in game theory,” but in game theory (and politics) there is a valid use for chaos. Unpredictability forces us to live reactively, spending our attention on each new rupture until uncertainty leads to exhaustion. So you’re right — it is ok to not react. It’s ok not to worry.

"I'm a Democrat, so why am I here today?" I mean, we're all asking that same question, John. I'm pretty sure the answer is just "You went where the crowd would cheer instead of booing." And that should tell you all you need to know.

Every time you re-confirm info I‘ve already confirmed & documented, 2 things happen: 1. You introduce a new opportunity for error & confusion, bc ‘off the dome’ is not as reliable as the careful documentation 2. I feel so cognitively overwhelmed, it’s like doing algebra in my head at a rock concert

I can't tell you the number of times I've saved the day, personally or professionally, through "collateral knowledge" - through knowing a thing I encountered while trying to research something else, or pulling an interesting thread while looking up information. "Answers" are not the sole benefit.

kill the MAHA in your head, a non-exhaustive list: -stop using the word "chemicals" in a derogatory way. When criticizing specific types of chemicals, be specific. -stop saying "clean eating" for whatever diet you're on. food you're avoiding isn't dirty or bad just because you are avoiding it.

Honestly the first thing I noted with AI images and videos, this would overwhelmingly be used to replace and exploit minoritized groups without even the prior minor concession to find and pay a single representative. Why care about your portrayal of PoC when you don't even have to hire them anymore?

His entire party has to be dismantled in the aftermath, you know. It's easy to focus on one aging felon's mental decline and forget the entire national apparatus propping him up and covering up for him because he's convenient between fits and ignores his actual job entirely.

Dolly Parton was universally loved because she was a rich person who knew what it was like to be poor, stayed down to earth, and spent her life giving back to others who were less fortunate. The oligarchs who don’t understand why everyone hates them probably won’t learn from this. But they should

Less than 10% of one year’s revenue, 30% of a single year’s profit. A fine is a price. If we must do fines, they need to be 100% of profits during the offending period + 10%.
