Today is the 100th anniversary of Davis Day✨ Today we to join in remembering William Davis, a coal miner tragically killed in 1925 during a strike for better working conditions and fair wages in New Waterford. His death ignited a crucial turning point in Nova Scotia’s labour movement.

Davis Day today marks 100 years since William Davis was killed by company police during a strike. We honour those who stood the gaff and sacrificed so much for labour and human rights. And we remain committed to better wages and worker protections, and ending scab labour in NS.
A black memorial monument for William Davis (1888–1925) with the words "STANDING THE GAFF" engraved on it, surrounded by shrubs and trees. The bottom of the monument includes an etched image of a group of coal miners. Text overlay reads “Davis Day — 100 years” with the NSNDP logo in the corner.

Organizing a workers-first agenda to address the tariff crisis

Tariffs and other moves by US President Donald Trump are causing a lot of fear. Many of us don't know what Trump's actions-or the response from our own governments-will mean for our jobs, families, and communities.

Featuring:
CHRISTINE SAULNIER
Nova Scotia Director,
Canadian Centre
for Policy Alternatives

TONY TRACY
Activist & Organizer
Justice for Workers Nova Scotia

Join us for a Public Forum to learn more about tariffs and Trump's "trade war", the projected
impact of the tariffs, and what action we can take to ensure workers have essential protections regardless of our job or immigration status.
We'll talk about what we need from all levels of government, including: adequate weekly income and better access to Employment Insurance; a moratorium on rent hikes and evictions; a freeze on food prices; and an end to corporate profiteering.

Spring’s Red October 2024 talks are now on YouTube! Last October, Spring hosted a three-day conference in downtown Toronto featuring dozens of excellent talks on socialist ideas in action. You can now experience the razor sharp socialist analysis you were missing! youtube.com/channel/UCEZ...

Secondary prediction: the church uptake among US socialists** won’t be as dramatic because those who are/were open to churchgoing are more likely to already be involved.
