65 years ago today, 1,400 Cuban exiles were sent by the U.S. government to invade their own island. The Bay of Pigs invasion collapsed in 3 days. The policy logic behind it never did. As the Trump admin renews threats of military action against Cuba, we say: NOT IN OUR NAME!

The release of over 2,000 prisoners is a welcome humanitarian step. Cuban Americans support all efforts that reduce suffering. Despite the Trump administration's attempts to strangle Cuba, they continue to work in good faith toward normalization. The U.S. should do the same.

We just got back from Havana, where we connected with community groups and brought much-needed aid. We also saw firsthand how deeply the U.S. blockade impacts the lives of Cubans. Here’s a video recap of our time there 📹

Hardliners say that Cubans are desperate for U.S. intervention. Sara Kozameh talked to many Cubans of all political stripes as part of her coverage for The Guardian. Not one supported U.S. intervention. Cubans want dignity and sovereignty, not U.S. sanctions.
Screenshot of a highlighted excerpt from a Guardian article where a journalist says they spoke with 70–80 Cubans from different backgrounds in eastern Cuba, including critics of the government, and none supported U.S. sanctions or intervention.

The media keeps recycling the same loud voices calling for continued sanctions and regime change. But they’re not the whole story. Many of us are working for what actually helps our families: easing tensions, rebuilding ties, and creating shared prosperity for our families. #Cuba #EndTheEmbargo

The crisis in Cuba isn’t abstract. It’s our relatives going without power, food, and medicine because the U.S. is blocking oil shipments. Cubans in Miami and across the country want engagement, not escalation. #Cuba #EndTheEmbargo

The U.S. has counted on Cuba’s “fall” for decades and been wrong at every turn. It’s on us, as Americans, to organize against this naked imperialism. We need to stop Trump’s war machine and undo decades of U.S. economic warfare on Cuba.
