Tony Baines @tonebaines.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Very interesting to hear Hart Council leader Dave Neighbour talk to local MP @alexkbrewer.bsky.social recently about nature and the work of Hart's Countryside team. An example is their work to help threatened butterfly species despite many challenges. @savebutterflies.bsky.social 001
Tony Baines @tonebaines.bsky.social · 07/09/2026We were joined in our garden by this juvenile herring gull last night. Bit surprising as we are a long way away from the sea or a known nesting colony. Still there in the morning but was alert and feeding on the grass. Now gone, hopefully to thrive! 002
Tony Baines @tonebaines.bsky.social · 05/09/20261st visit to a rather picturesque Sussex football ground this afternoon for Horsham 1-1 Dagenham & Redbridge. Good to see an ever young Andy Carroll still plying his trade and knocking the ball down for teammates. Friendly place, impressive fans too 000
Tony Baines @tonebaines.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Remember Richard O’Sullivan's work so fondly from my earlier years and had the great pleasure of meeting him too. He'd been in poor health for a long time but his memory will last through all the great series he was involved in. RIP 020

Tony Baines @tonebaines.bsky.social · 20/07/2026This is such sad news. Had the huge pleasure of working with Kevin for a short while and he was unfailingly fun to be with, kind and courteous. His passing is a loss for football and his country but most of all his family. RIP 000

Reposted by Tony BainesMargaret Harris @drmlharris.bsky.social · 14/05/2026The defeat of the AV referendum is criminally under-appreciated as a dark day in British history. It was a good idea, and admirably suited to the present situation, where much of the voting public is primarily motivated by loathing of (at least) one party, rather than support for any of the others. 512024
