One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”

Americans picked Trump II, and their biggest objection is high prices. Hungary chose Orban, and their eventual big objection was corruption. Erdogan and Modi won multiple terms. Brazilians about to go Bolsonaro again. Not always free and fair, but yeah, millions want it. Wouldn’t work otherwise.

The irony of course is that Originalism’s big selling point was supposed to be constraining the discretion or judges to impose their own political preferences as law. In practice the effect has been very much the reverse: Liberating justices from the constraints of stare decisis.

And this was just step one. Even if they'd been correct, Smith's not even banned from talking to her... We know there were scheduling issues that needed to be coordinated between the various Trump prosecutions. I'm glad Smith had the foresight not to be the person doing those coordinations.
