They had an episode with the Doctor as a living cartoon *checks notes* last season!

But isn't Doctor Who already a show for kids?

Absolutely cackling that this guy will have as much screen time as Eccleston

Any real Doctor Who fan could come up with multiple answers in seconds, in other words I agree with you entirely

All the quote posts going lol the nerds are gonna get angry about canon but if you can't think of five ways straight off this could fit in continuity then are you really a Doctor Who fan?

Also learned, less happily, that he strictly forbade my Mum and her sisters from ever speaking Westmoreland dialect or with the local accent (they were from there) - many such cases I'm sure in the UK's tortuous history of class and regionality

I saw a kid in the co-op with a Stone Roses T-Shirt the other day! "Name three of their albums" (a trick question)

Learned a nugget of family history! My grandpa was in the trenches in WWI, was offered a commission and turned it down cos he'd worked out that tall officers were the easiest targets (he was 6'2" and survived unscathed)

Looking back on it I appreciate what she was doing but at the time I was mortified, it certainly cured me of any burgeoning attempt to get into designer labels

Honestly think that was the only time I asked her for any kind of fashion related birthday or christmas present, it was back to CDs and videogames after that debacle

I asked my mum to buy me some!! She looked at the prices and decided instead to make some by widening a pair of my old jeans with extra fabric that didn't quite match the colour :(

If you count any one of Bungle's three operators it's down to eleven now (current status of Little Neepsie, Chris and Do unknown) We Didn't Start The Fire is on four, Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3) two, The Intro And The Outro five, John Kettley Is A Weatherman fifteen, Endless Art zero.

“The Sun Rising” and “Only Your Love Takes Me Higher” are great, he’s a real limp lettuce of a vocalist though, they needed to find a Mr C equivalent

It’s baggy! Well baggy-adjacent, in combination with “The Sun Rising” I’ve always heard it as a hugs-for-everyone ecstasy culture vibe except not actually danceable

Have just looked at the summaries of the possible books and I’m genuinely none the wiser, obviously just slid through my brain without leaving a single mark

Anyway I read a Jeffrey Archer book once, I honestly couldn’t tell you which, they were a guilty pleasure of my Dad’s and as often with guilty pleasures you can ignore one of those words

Freestyle and Cashflow feel like holdovers from last year's poll a bit - which raised the freak bar VERY high - and Sweet Tee ought to be safe for a round (she was borderline A-Sides) so perhaps I'll let myself vote for... lovers' rock Elvis Costello?!?! Yes, why not

Tom Ewing @tomewing.bsky.social · 20h
Strong group - soca tracks have been somewhat scarce in BPHM polls, probably because they operate very much within a tight range, the happy hardcore of Caribbean music, but like happy hardcore I'll vote for it if given the chance!

Some tremendous reggae and dancehall in this poll but I'm voting for my nomination, Tashan's mix of rough and smooth which I first heard on David Toop's amazing 1996 Sugar And Poison compilation (not the first or last track from that I've nominated!) www.discogs.com/release/5282...

I am fascinated by the implied shared universe of the Club Nouveau and Timex Social Club sleeves!! This is "Lean On Me" for me, one of those hits there's not anything else quite like - a capella meets swingbeat meets gospel?

Interesting thing about this is the way the Knuckles remix of Your Love makes it darker (adding the stalkery I CANT LET GO whispers) ie a bit more like Adonis - a real dancefloor paranoia arms race going on (as we’ll also see in 90-93 with hardcore)

The shift in hip-hop that’s the big macro story of this poll feels like a move from 8-bit to 16-bit, a mix of early stabs at the new lyrical and musical tech and late work pushing the previous paradigm to its limit, a really intoxicating time

The bit at the end of Doctor Who, City Of Death episode 3 where the scientist ages to a skeleton in seconds. I hid upstairs the next week and made Dad call up when it was over. Rewatching as an adult I was dismayed to realise how played for laughs it all was

Also, you should not be doing focus groups of any kind on views that don‘t change that much! Stick it in a tracker and forget about it mate. (I suspect people‘s views on AI are moving quite a lot though) bsky.app/profile/zoec...

It’s hard to tell cos a lot of the pop people I know are looking firmly overseas this year, which tells its own story I guess. Definitely feels like a lot of the stuff that was making 23-24 feel lively is more or less absent

The material isn’t going to win a lot of prizes for originality but Shimiza has a very restrained art style which works for the courtly, spooky elegance of the monsters and makes the body horror land well when it arrives

61. HINATSUGIMURA by Aki Shimizu Done in one horror-manga: lost travellers, folklorists, etc find an ancient mountain village and foolishly accept an offer to stay the night. Initially discrete stories combine well but it’s one of those cases where the explanations spoil the chills a bit
