If you have not yet been to see the scale model of NYC built by Joe Macken out of cardboard and balsa wood over a period of 21 years you only have until the 12th of October to see it! It's at the Museum of the City of New York, by the north east end of Central Park

Passkeys maybe technically great, but I’m surprised that there’s no way of disabling them in environments where they don’t make sense (think elderly folks/kids accounts, small teams) In that vain, I’ve just opened FB24847255: Ability to disable passkeys

From their perspective there’s little incentive to improve that performance though tbh? With a limited number of options for routing/pricing - if you’re the only company on a route (as most of them are) customers don’t have (m)any other options tbh (see also train companies, etc)

You're right to push — and it's a good catch.

Sounds ridiculous (because it is..), but sometimes flying to like Poland (spotted that Gdańsk was 15€ this week from HH, Vilnius/Milan/Budapest also work) and then back up can be comfortably cheaper, if you can spare the extra time etc Doesn’t excuse the profit gauging but hopefully it helps

Oh totally. In this case I’ve ended up building a simple one for my use case which’ll be fine - but the “best map” really depends on the user (eg Google Maps is unreliable in say Georgia/Armenia and China) and where it’s showing (which is an issue for global services)

I understand why MapKit JS is locked down/requires an access token, but at the same time it’s a shame that it is. It’s well past time for browsers to ship a <map> and <pin> element which renders using the platform/map of the users choice tbh

@bsky.app it’s super frustrating to be searching for cloud related terms and for literally the entire search results feed to be NSFW pics, even if they’re hidden Are there any plans to fix moderation/search? Just hiding NSFW results isn’t really an option when some folks tag swearing as NSFW

Yeah, it’s horrendous, and yet too much is still only there too tbh. I’ve found a combination of their web app (in private browsing to force you to log in, making it more annoying) plus Opal works pretty great in a feeding your fix of updates whilst getting in and out quickly fwiw

Tbh there’s very few credible companies who’d be able to guaranteed pull that off from a brand, security and privacy standpoint Certainly Apple (because of their history with isolation like how PCC and BridgeOS work) and mag e Teenage Engineering - I can’t think of (m)any others tbh Not Meta tho

IMO the issue there is that OAPI can’t be a panacea, TypeSpec does go some way to polishing it but it’s the same issue. Arguably a stricter set of fixed standards for “this is how APIs must behave” is probably what’s needed, but that’s a whole different can of worms. (I’d love to see it tho)

Tom Harvey @tombuildsstuff.bsky.social · 19/07/2026
Partly, also because of vendor specific items which aren’t realistically ever going to fit in an OAPI doc (custom retries/rate limiting, discriminated types etc). It’s a ton simpler to have one consistent way users and agents can use rather than trying to special case every agent / api combination

Others have reported that as misleading. There’s an opt out if a battery retains 80% of its capacity after 1000 charges, which iPhones have been hitting for a decade already

Shout out to the cyclist wearing lycra, who, immediately after complaining at me moving to the left hand side of the lane (to give someone pulling off from the pavement space) opts to run straight through a red light super fast 👌

Miliband lost the election because of a Bacon sandwich Truss was pitted against a Lettuce Presumably that means whenever Starmer goes it'll be Tomato related?

Truly, my kingdom for @railway.com to support TCP ports with custom domains (like they do for HTTPS services) Spinning up a container elsewhere to proxy the custom domain/expected port to the TCP port/hostname used by Railway gets old fast 🙃

The new cycling infrastructure on Karl-Marx-Allee into Alexanderplatz is 👌 However this is the third time in a week I’ve seen cars turning right using the dedicated bike lane rather than the car lanes, maybe it needs some bollards? 🤔 #berlin

Just had a flashback to when a friend customised a pizza but forgot to include either cheese or a sauce in the options When it arrived he opened the box to find a cooked pizza base and 8 meatballs rolling around the box 😂

A 3D web-based multiplayer shooter game, entirely generated by Claude Code.

Yep. Having experienced it briefly first hand last summer, I’m blown away by their resiliency. There’s an exhibition in the middle of Kyiv which compared some events to the Warsaw uprising, which I hadn’t made the connection to.
