Just found it and you are correct, it was Gaston county. Parents were charged with involuntary manslaughter, felony child neglect, and misdemeanor could neglect. The driver was not charged. Unbelievable.

This is a good discussion topic but not because of the framing presented. Here in Charlotte a couple years ago a driver killed two children walking across the road and the parents of the kids were charged.
