My favourite bit about Americans watching Better Man without knowing who Robbie Williams is... At one point they'll see a bloody skinless monkey version of Robbie and have absolutely no clue why.

Oh mate, it baffles me. He's a massive part of 90s/00s and can't see how that wouldn't have reached across the pond. I'm seeing a lot of Americans seeing the film on a whim and going back through his music which is cool. We saw him live 3 years ago and he was out of this world. Pure entertainer.

My ma hasn't seen the same film in the cinema twice since the projector broke during The Sixth Sense and she had to go back (after she had the end spoiled for her.) Today we're back for our 2nd viewing of Better Man. Americans might not have a clue but Pam is obsessed.

How have I not seen this before!? It's silly and a tad bit cheesy at times but Jesus I loved it.

I love Tubi because for every absolute belter of a film there's also stuff even the pound shop won't stock because it's a load of bollocks.

How are your 2025 releases looking? These are all released in the UK in 2025. What a start to the year. Also it's 3x for Nosferatu. I adore it.

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 18/01/2025

I've decided that when I buy my own cinema, I'm going to hire the aliens from Quiet Place to sit at the front of the screen and let them have free roam. Rustling? Dead. Talking? Decapitated. Easy.

Nosferatu for the third time tomorrow! Can't wait to see my man go absolutely ape shit yet again. Feels like this film is 2025's Late Night With The Devil.

There are a lot of benefits to teaching Film Studies. One of them is getting to watch this as part of my job, as well as introducing it to about 80% of my class who've never seen it before.

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

You were right, I absolutely loved it. Although I preferred ISTD in terms of story (and probably because it was more horror adjacent) Byung-hun was so much better in this. Pure class. Cheers for the heads-up mate!

A Bittersweet Life is on BFI Player as well. Lethal that, I'll watch it this weekend

000

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

Never even heard of it but same director and Lee Byung-hun back!? I'm in. Yeah it was amazing. I couldn't understand what they were going to do with the last 90 odd minutes after they met for the first time. Up there with the best 90 mins of thriller/action/horror. The smile kill was exceptional.

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

Mate that blew my tits off. I'd have it as up there with some of the best. I've been on a bit of a run with Korean and Indonesian films. Next on the list is The Host and Memories of Murder.

000

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

I watched the Oldboy remake before the original and it's probably the best move I've ever made. I enjoyed the remake because I wasn't aware how subpar it was in comparison and then LOVED the original. I don't think I'll ever watch the remake again (until a Spike Lee retrospective 😂)

000

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

Mate it was amazing. One of those I'll watch again and still be hit in a similar way. I realised at the end I'd had it spoiled for me by a shite American remake with a different name. Obviously erased most of it from my mind because I took all this in like it was new.

Thanks to Tyneside Cinema I got to see this in 35mm and I'm going to be totally normal about it. As good as The Witch. Eggers is on another level. Let's see if I can get to see it at least once more before it leaves the big screen.

Platinum number 89 is Uncharted 3. By far the most frustrating of the franchise because it's so desperate to do something different. Loved the story though and yet again, set pieces and settings were insane. Similar trophy list to before with some cool extras.

Just incredible. One of the films of the year, with one of the performances of the year.

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 28/12/2024

Just because Bluesky still hasn't sorted the photo/video combo... Here's what I mean about Sully. Need to finish a level in 6 minutes and he's taking in the scenery, scratching his old arse and blocking the path. Prick.

000

Todderov @todderov28.bsky.social · 28/12/2024

🎶It's going to take a lot to keep me away from you, there's nothing that 100 slow waking Sully's could ever do!🎶 Speed runs, hardest difficulty, 101 collectibles and Sully walking like he's shat himself. No bother. Platinum number 88 Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I'm just trying to check off as many of the 24 films I haven't seen before the end of the year. I put Madame Web on. THERE'S STILL 45 MINUTES LEFT. I feel like I started this film in 2007. Whoever greenlit this needs slapping. Whoever decided on a 2 hour run time needs psychological evaluation.

Cannot recommend this enough. Just clearing up some of my 2024 watches before the end of the year and gutted I didn't get to this sooner. It's funny, it's touching, it's SO well made. More of a comedy/drama that lives in a horror world and absolutely worth your time.

If you fancy ruining your day in the best way possible, Red Rooms is for you. Bleak with a capital B. An uncomfortably close look into obsession with true crime and a life lived online. Went in as blind as possible and was not let down. Top class. #FilmSky

Has anyone looked this handsome in knitwear? Second unrelated question. Is it possible for an actor in a sweater to cause a man to grow ovaries and fall pregnant? Just asking. For a friend obviously. Completely hypothetical.

Speaking of the Trainspotting costume department, where can I get a heel like Sick Boy's? Not to store heroin obviously, just to hide a little snack to get me through the day.

I really like the second 50 minutes of Heretic. I LOVE the first hour. So much to read into. Cinematography is blindingly good. Hugh Grant's insane performance is only bolstered by Thatcher & East also pulling it out of the bag through fear and being utterly believable.

Most watched of the year Favourite film of 2024 Some of my favourite casting ever Dastmalchian getting the leading role he so rightly deserved Double dipped on limited edition Blu-rays. Already got a Late Night With The Devil tattoo planned. Probably not the last time I watch it this year. Perfect

Ridiculous how inordinately happy 56 minutes of film makes me. Especially 56 minutes that repeatedly manages to scare the everliving shite out of me on every watch.
