intriguing idea, a type of #AlgorithmicRegulation i.e. automatic/adaptive regulation you might say. (oxymoronic as that might in a way be as an idea; or you might say, market mechanisms are that).

yeah actually first I thought it might have been a visualization of results from proposed-reform-unlocked housing, which could be cool, but I can't see anything else in image that seems generated. it's so prominent and obvious though, on a skyline icon in the news, that seems like there was a point.

the stock photo on article has a remarkably transformed, trapezoidal profile morph of skyline centerpiece #BigPink. (see actual, in 3rd image). I wondered at first if was some joke or point about collapsing downtown property values or office-to-residential conversion. bsky.app/profile/ande...

seems an important topic to trace the long arc towards pure State discretionary and staff/rulemaking control in land-use. It's been increasingly striking to me for years. Who/what drives it and is served, what outcomes occurring or foreseeable, how is or can there be accountability and rule of law?

#Ischia is beautifully filmed as the 'Mongibello' in The Talented Mr Ripley (1999) and partly that of Purple Noon (Plein Soleil, 1959, www.reelstreets.com/films/plein-...); maaybe senseable in #Auden, "In Praise of Limestone" (1948)—though that might be as much or more to with his native Yorkshire

seems you use #StackedFlats to include part-floor apts, but doesn't WA define them as full-floor, per 2023 #HB1110?: "dwelling units in a residential building of no more than 3 stories on a residential zoned lot in which each floor may be separately rented or owned" app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?...

like, what if governments, developers, actually sought to do whatever possible to cause creation of what's most needed: housing much lower priced than $300k, much lower carbon, much more open to diverse building/dev/ownership options including self-build, incremental dev, and #MovableDwelling?
000
Tim McCormick @tmccormick.org · 06/05/2026
if a minimum density pushes dev to this lower-cost option, what other levers might push it well further? e.g. 1-story max, or 500sf unit max, conceivably could steer development to perhaps much more affordable, flexibly buildable & financeable #CottageCourt. c/ @danbertolet.bsky.social

oh agree, I'd love it and think it could be wonderfully generative if they explored it globally—what might *all* kinds of people want, get from common places, facilities? Just noting, even Anglo & French traditions typically leaned on consciously or not, have diverse and in ways conflicting strands.

another key tradition that imo might usefully be brought in, occurs to me. is libraries, doing all kinds of and radically evolving things over time, and not just for well-being or leisure. p.s. #TorontoPublicLibrary was a big part of and inspiration in my 3 months in TO late last year!

oppty to help them/us think it out more clearly, diversely! Canada has analogous indigenous common property traditions, also Crown lands and e.g. Halifax Common (1763), and inevitably influenced by US where commons have long been foregrounded esp #BostonCommon (1634) on which Olmsted system built.

on what 'parks' might be, imo best to consider them as heir to distinct traditions, especially (in Anglosphere) both #commons, used and perhaps needed widely incl for production, work, life basics; vs 'park' mostly originating as royal/aristocratic hunting, leisure preserves bsky.app/profile/alex...
