I just finished making my first birdwatching art zine! 😍 tjtrewin.itch.io/cool-birds-i... trying out some worn-out marker brushes in Affinity really helped fight the perfectionism to get this finished hahaha xD #Zine #Zines #ArtZine #MiniZine #Birdwatching #Birding #NatureReserve #AvianAugust

Cool birds that I've seen in:

Birds of Prey
One of the things I love the most about living in Buenos Aires is getting to see sooooo many birds of prey every day, even in the city!

Pictured:
- (bottom left) A large, dark feathered Harris Hawk on a log, bending down to tear meat from an unknown morsel held in place with its talons. A doodled annotation reads "om nom nom".
- (right, main) Two big Crested Caracaras perching amidst tree branches, looking off into the distance. The top one has doodled questionmarks to imply a curious expression, the lower one has a scribble to emphasize the tuft of its darker head crest sticking out.
- (bottom right) A Chimango, smaller than the Caracaras, has a smaller beak, no head tuft, and a lighter coloured body. A doodle of exclamation marks implies an alert expression.Pages 4 & 5
Passeriformes
The mockingbirds often trick me into thinking that there's a bird somewhere nearby that I haven't seen before!

Pictured:
- (left, edge) A Narrow-billed Woodcreeper with a long, narrow beak, climbing the trunk of a tree and looking for insects.
- (left, bottom) A Red-crested Cardinal with a prominently pointed crest, standing on grass and looking downward and with doodles implying an expression of frustration.
- (right) A Chalk-browed Mockingbird perching atop a ledge and peering downards (seemingly towards the cardinal on the opposite page). Angled doodles from the beak look like an expression of speech, or birdsong, in the form of scribbled wavelengths.
- (right, bottom) A Great Kiskadee perched on a branch.Pages 6 & 7
Water Birds
I enjoy staying motionless by the river (especially in the rain) and silently noticing all of the wildlife around me.

Hold on... am I a heron?

(Smudgy, partially erased text: I should stretch. I also have the same posture.)

Pictured:
- (top left) A huge Cocoi Heron in a relaxed yet hunched pose. It has a black crest atop its head and its neck has long, white, hair-like feathers.
- (left, main) A Maguari Stork as seen from below, soaring above with an enormous wingspan with black edges contrasting its white body.
- (right, edge) A large, almost-black Neotropic Cormorant with its webbed feet perching on a rock. Its long neck bends as it twists to face its beak directly facing forward to the viewer.
- (right, fold) A Grey-cowled Wood Rail, kind of chicken-sized, wades through the muddy river bank. It has a black tufty tail that sticks upwards, and it has a strong pointy beak like the heron and cormorant, though not as long.

2 months, 3d/week, 2hr/class, and 1hr commute there & back has been intense... but it's done me the world of good. My discipline is MUCH better, I've lost a healthy amount of weight from all of the walking (and taking 4 flights of stairs), and the best part is - I've made lots of new friends 🥰

I took part in a coastal clean up at the reserve yesterday 🥰 we filled 4 of those massive city recycling bags with trash! 3 of which can be recycled! 🙌 I'm certainly feeling the aches today after helping to haul those back through the nature reserve to the entrance 😱 #BeachClean

RIP #PortfolioDay layout 😭 This changes all of your old posts with multiple images to a carousel format. Also if your image ratios are 16:9, more of it gets chopped off (the first two images in my example are 1:1). Time to explore some ideas for the new format I guess 🤔 #PixelArt

good morning here is my Wrong Frog #PixelArt #Aseprite #CreatureDesign #Worldbuilding
Pixel art creature concept of a frog that looks kind of wrong. Named "Knuckle Frog" - it has long, strong forearms and appears to be walking with its knuckles (like a gorilla) and its hind legs make it look like it's prowling. Perhaps most disturbingly of all, you realise that there is no eye on what you thought was the head - it's a dark splotch. The real head is where you'd expect its butt to be, and it has a hidden large red-orange eye looking out for prey.

1-bit pixel art in desaturated lime green and dark brown, inspired by The Legend of Zelda gameboy style. I created individual tiles based on a prompt list for the Septembit 2025 challenge by Saultoons and used them to create a game mockup.

I'm actually in the process of updating my palette! I love my most used ones but there's like, a whole chunk of 'em that I've never put to use... 😅 and when I went to make my overworld tileset, I *really* needed to swap some out for nicer stone colours because EVERYTHING LOOKED LIKE BAKED BEANS
WIP development screenshot of some 16x16 overworld pixel art tiles. The old colour palette (left) didn't have many warm grey colours, so I had to use brown tones instead which made the rocky walls look like baked beans. The updated palette (right) looks like stone now! I also adjusted the greens, and the water is a little more cyan now.Example map level made using my 16x16 pixel art tileset. Ribbons and banners with elegant loops can be used for titles and headings and work well with fantasy themes!A pixel art showcase of blank character body types, each in masculine and feminine forms. They are 16 x 48 pixels and use 5 colours.

Trim Jim: an "average" body type of those shown in this example. Gym Jim: a strong and highly muscular build. Grim Jim: a skeleton (center). Slim Jim: a slender, skinny body type. Chin Jim: an overweight body type.My entry for the pixel art Septembit 2025 challenge, where I created 1-bit assets based on word prompts and pre-defined sizes. The final prompt was to use all of the assets to create a "city"! I chose instead to make part of a top down town inspired by The Legend of Zelda titles on Gameboy consoles :D

This is the non-animated version, featuring a river, rower, railway tracks and a cart, different houses, a great fairy fountain, whispering stone, and environment tiles like paths, grass, bushes, and plants.

The neat thing is, you can choose to turn the results into links so you can make new notes on the fly :D AND, AND if you already USED a result, the link already shows that a note exists! (can you tell I had way too much fun making this)

I used to like using those fantasy name tools but they never gave the results I wanted (and nowadays, I don't trust the source material).... So I made a template in Obsidian that lets you make your own 😆 tjtrewin.itch.io/randomisers-... it's free (or pwyw)! #ttrpg #worldbuilding #obsidian
Image text: "Create your own custom name generators & randomised lists. Ready to use Obsidian template - tjtrewin.itch.io - NO A I"
Outline shapes of polyhedral dice adorn the image background.

Hey @itch.io! 😃 Where is the 21:9 wide cover used? I couldn't see it in use on any of the featured releases on the itch homepage (and the background seems to be a blurred version of the project's first screenshot). #itchio
Screenshot of itch.io product settings. Under the Metadata tab in the promo images section you can upload a variety of images for different purposes. The social media image says it gets shown on Twitter, Facebook, etc. when your project is linked. The favicon is shown as the browser icon (like in a tab). The wide cover says: "Used for special home page featuring. Must be 21:9 aspect ratio".

The name is obscured by a scorch mark, with only the clear letters ending "ly~" remaining.Example showcasing the box art text elements of Knightwood - you can make decorative borders, chains, ropes, and vines (with or without highlights) using just ASCII art :DPreview image of the pixel art paper scrolls & ribbons tileset pack included in the halloween sale bundle - with multiple rolled paper edges, corners, folds, cuts and tears.

Different colour variants include some greyscale options toooooo :D Also I kept each variant to use only 4 colours to make it easier to adjust in case you want to :)
16 different colour variations of a pixel art mouse pointer/cursor with index finger extended. The first three are greyscale: dark grey, grey, and white. The rest are skin tones ranging from pale to dark in various hues.

I added a bunch of box drawing elements to my latest fantasy pixel font, Knightwood :D tjtrewin.itch.io/knightwood-p... If you layer things up you can even customise it to make different coloured patterns, borders, ropes, vines, chains, and UI elements! #PixelArt #PixelFont #Font #IndieGameDev
Knightwood fantasy pixel font, 250+ languages, bonus glyphs, 16px tall overall with 8px high uppercaseText in a dialogue box made using the font: "TJ Trewin: Did you know that if you add box drawing elements on different layers, you can add shading & make unique patterns!"

The examples show vines and ropes with optional shading, chains, and decorative border patterns.A pixel aesthetic indie game mockup "KrakenQuest", made entirely using elements from the font. Rope adorns horizontal black cinematic bars, framing an ocean and sky. The sky has a gradient made using shade character blocks. Kraken tendrils rise from it, made with border elements. The start menu UI buttons are also made from these elements, with text: NEW GAME, LOAD GAME, EXIT TO DOS.A mini game mockup of an Objectives screen or quest log at a tiny scale resolution. Text: "Objectives. Steal 100 loot (optional). Learn Benny's whereabouts. Travel to the bear pits. Continue (left right arrows)"

The border elements show example use as checkboxes for incomplete, complete, and in progress.
