The Matrix report describes a department that has modernized its tools but not yet its management culture. According to the report, closing the gap with peer counties depends mainly on consistent leadership, enforced timelines, coordinated review comments, and transparent performance reporting. It is not about adding staff, only targeted staffing additions are recommended. What the report doesn't say is there may be some within the
organization unable to embrace the culture change.

a guy I work with had to run up to DC yesterday to replace his sister’s front door after it was destroyed by law enforcement, over alleged Facebook posts by her son (who does not live with her!!) purportedly showing an illegal firearm. fuck all this fascist bullshit, free DC.

speaking of punch list stuff, today was reinstalling proper height shutters on the windows that were partially blocked by the slate roof for 200 years. involved carefully scraping out like 50 layers of paint so we could move the hardware back down to its original location

left side of a window frame, covered in layers and layers of paint. a hinge bracket is attached about 18 inches up, while a faint hinge pocket is visible under the paint near the sill

the hinge bracket has been removed, and the old hinge pocket is now free of paint

Lynchburg television station WSET and the University of Lynchburg are seeking to organize a debate on October 20. Perriello has accepted, but McGuire told reporter WSET reporter Allison Mullett on August 27 that he will not discuss any debates until Perriello apologizes for making allegations of insider trading. He is quoted as saying he does not even make trades.
That story did not specify whether the reporter sought a comment from the Perriello campaign, but the campaign responded with a statement anyway the next day.
"The taxpayers deserve multiple public debates, and I've made clear that I'm ready," Perriello is quoted in the statement, which also asks McGuire to answer allegations that he has benefited from inside knowledge through a series of stock sales and purchases."

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison filed a request for a temporary restraining order last week seeking to block Castro's release or to order his return to Minnesota.
Texas attorneys on Tuesday argued the judge could not rule on a decision that's still pending.
Abbott has not denied the extradition. Instead he is waiting for the outcome of an internal state investigation considering whether Castro was legally a "fugitive" under the Extradition Clause, the lawyers said.
The judge wrote in Wednesday's order that the court couldn't yet step in.
"The Court concludes that it lacks subject matter jurisdiction because the case is not ripe for adjudication," the order read. "Minnesota cannot premise its causes of action on the allegation that Governor Abbott may violate those authorities in the future; it must prove that a violation has already occurred."
