Split mains for #FirstDraftFall Leathlyn val'Galenon, the bastard daughter Canas Scirocco, the failed assassin

Cydewalk Summers @tjcwrites.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

In this instance, I need to get a solid handle on the motivations and relationships between the secondary and tertiary characters. There's a lot of inter- and intra-house politics so I want to understand at least what characters think of one another #FirstDraftFall

Cydewalk Summers @tjcwrites.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

#FirstDraftFall Ring of the val'Galenon is intended to be a standalone story (although I do have ideas for the world that may not make it into the text, and would be fun to explore, so we'll see how it all goes)

Cydewalk Summers @tjcwrites.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Leathlyn lives in the family estate, a bastard daughter of a noble house, alternately ignored or tormented by othet members of the family. Canas "lives" in a jail, having been caught and imprisoned for attempted robbery and assassination after being abandoned by his companions #FirstDraftFall

For #FirstDraftFall I'm going to (attempt to) work on a draft for Ring of the val'Galenons Its a story I've had sketched out for a few years and kept picking another project over it. Mostly it feels like a challenge to me, a heavily character driven story without much "action"

I hope Kingdom Hearts IV is good for the people who still care for the franchise. I aged* out of it before KHIII but played it as a way of closing a chapter on my teens (years after the fact), so I probably won't get it *this is a simplified way of describing my feelings on the franchise

I think I liked season 1 of White Lotus? There was basically no "plot" - it was just all character work, which was actually really good. I'm just trying to decide if I enjoyed it. I think I did. On one hand it had Sydney Sweeny. On the other, it had Jennifer Coolidge, who is always fantastic.

I don't want email summaries I don't want youtube video summaries I don't want search summaries I don't want anything made by a water-guzzling liar and thief with no mind, soul, or bigger purpose other than making everything around me worse, uglier and warmer. No amount of pop ups will convince me!

"Wolfslayer's Curse" - self-pub later this year Ta-Veln thought she'd left the way of the hunter behind for her children, but when a monster plagues the tribe, she takes up the spear once more. Is she even a match for this creature? And why does it seem so familiar?

Addendum re: Dungeon Crawler Carl I'll freely admit to hate-reading. If I'm going to be a hater, I'm going to know what the hell I'm talking about

020

Cydewalk Summers @tjcwrites.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

Mordecai's status as a surviving Crawler and Changeling might have been a fun surprise when Carl reached level 3. There's no mystery, no sense of scale, and Carl just flat out isn't interesting. Maybe it parts off in the end. We'll see 3/3

Cydewalk Summers @tjcwrites.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

...given it! That the World Dungeon was an interstellar reality show could have been a cool mid-book reveal! Only 13 million people survived the inciting event is a horrific fact, but we basically open with that number, and 7.8 billion dear is so absurdly big as to be meaningless... 2/3

Admittedly I'm still in the setup, but every good idea introduced (and there are some) is presented in the most head-ass manner of basically stopping and speaking directly to the camera. It's all info that would've been neat to have trickled out or needed to piece together. Instead we're just... 1/3

I tried to come up with something clever but failed. Honestly what is the use of a rejection email for an office job FOUR MONTHS later. Its so dar past the point of "well at least I know" and into the realm of "glad I don't work for you" with this shitass turnaround time

A job application confirmation email from February 22, 2026 - and a rejection email from today (June 16, 2026) four months later
