It’d probably be considered sacrilegious to say as much, but I agree. But hey, at least I now know there’s nothing wrong with my ears.

I’ve often wondered how much better that album would be with a filthy, subby bass.

Enjoying watching footage from the current Gavin Friday tour. The magnificent ‘Ecce Homo’ was probably my favourite album of 2024 and I was sad to have missed out on tickets for the London date. The ‘Caucasian Walk’ redux is so good. Amazing performer; still. Gavin’s live band are superb too.

We released this live album on Friday. No overdubs. Only a handful of tiny correctional edits. We wanted an honest representation of how we sound live and we’re proud of this recording. No live dates lined up yet but hopefully that changes soon. In the meantime: tidal.com/album/427628...

Heard this song on BBC 6Music this evening and it knocked me sideways. Have had the EP on repeat a few times since and now onto ‘Formless’. So happy to have discovered your beautiful work.

Post-gig photo from Friday courtesy of the very talented lensman and TIRS friend Jon Sugden. It was a special night. Still recovering/processing. Now to start the job of editing & mixing the multitrack recordings for a live EP, coming soon.

First @tirs.bsky.social rehearsal for our upcoming gig at The Black Heart. So good to be back in a room together even if we're temporarily one short. Get well soon Julian.

Hope everyone who wanted a NIN ticket today got one. Here’s another event to make sure you have on your calendar. Tickets are still available from DICE or tirs dot uk. 20 year reunion. Musicians and songs coming out of retirement for YOU. A genuinely special, one-off event. Let’s sell it out.

It’s amazing though, isn’t it? I’m the same - have to see it through to its designed end every time. That loop glitch is just so… perfect

Imagine the uproar if it turns out to just be Trent & Atticus, sat studiously behind some big racks of synths, performing their soundtrack work on a stage covered with tea lights and a single projection screen showing time lapse coastal footage. For 3 hours.

I’ll certainly log in and have a go next week. I can’t stand the O2 but if they bring anything like the production they had when I saw them there in 2014, it’ll be amazing. Can’t help but feel this tour might come with some surprises. Self Destruct redux perhaps? Lohner? Clouser? Brass section?

TIRS @tirs.bsky.social · 19/01/2025

Yes! They were incredible on the recent UK dates. It was a joy to see them again.

Love this track. In the best way, it’s like stepping into a Time Machine to a better era when shoegaze, post-punk and indie pop all intertwined innocently and seamlessly.

Picked up a bootleg cassette of this at Camden Market in the 90s. The length of the setlist is what decided it for me. They certainly seemed to thrive an achieve more of a ‘journey’ with the longer sets.

TIRS @tirs.bsky.social · 17/01/2025

He really does. He was the main stage compere at my first festival (Reading 94) and he’s been a favourite of mine ever since. He *knows*. I don’t believe in music being ‘depressing’ FWIW. If it makes you think and/or feel, it works. If it doesn’t, it shouldn’t be on the airwaves. Simples!

TIRS @tirs.bsky.social · 17/01/2025

Me too! To be fair, I don’t think it’s too outlandish - I remember driving home one afternoon and Lammo dropped ‘Warhorse’ by @benefitstheband.bsky.social which almost gave me heartburn.

Our friend @penfriendrocks.bsky.social has just released her fantastic new single ‘Emotional Tourist’ - an infectious, rightfully scathing yet beautifully melodic synth-rock-pop (what a bass sound!) song that should be a drive time radio A-lister. 29 years since I last saw the inimitable @thejesuslizard.bsky.social live. Making up for it by going to see them 3 times this weekend (Bristol, London, Brighton). Very, very excited.

‘Fear of Gods’, from ‘Empires & Dance’. Brilliant post-punk/proto-industrial sounds.

‘Doom’ isn’t typically a genre that gets used with us. But our next single is quite likely to be a track which I can only describe as #industrial #doom #shoegaze’. 77BPM, 14 bar sequences, fuzz bass and the longest reverb I’ve ever used. Fits the new promo pic nicely.
