A few years back my partner was grasping to remember the term Dunning-Kruger and said Bunnings-Kruger instead. It's now my preferred term.

I added books to the list and they were automatically added to my vote list. I think a lot of folk did this, so the list grows and changes as voters add in books.

My partner's friend made him this small battle loaf. After thorough testing it's now bound for the Dwarf Bread Museum in Ankh-Morpork.

The business of being a literary agent is changing along with its ethical boundaries, leading agents to question how to maintain integrity and a sustainable revenue stream. buff.ly/JHiMA6E

That time a bunch of lovely authors wrote some tiny stories, which were letterpressed onto paper napkins which we then distributed around cafes and bookshops around Brisbane for folks to read on Valentine's Day.

Neisha from Creative Emporium leaning over a large letterpress machine printing napkin stories.

A table filled with stacks of letterpressed paper napkins ready for sorting. 5 sculpted owls by Scott Radke look on.

Colourful table set with teacups and teapots. A letterpressed paper napkin sits in the middle of the setting.

I'd love to know how it's AI that could cause the deaths and not the AI companies. And why news outlets keep repeating this and reinforcing that AI is somehow separate to the companies building, controlling and investing in it.

Letterpress flyers we made for Hunted Down and Other Tales by Marcus Clarke. The text is taken directly from Clarke’s 1870 story ‘When the Circus came to Bullocktown’.

A framed letterpress flyer that reads:

BUNCOMBE'S IMPERIAL
YANKO-AMERICAN CIRCUS:
THE MOST COMPLETE STUD IN THE AUSTRALIAS!
THE BONELESS BROTHERS OF BLAZING BELT!
FEATS IN THE HAUTE ECOLE!
MADEMOISELLE ZEPHERINA, THE FAIRY EQUESTRIENNE!
MR. STANISLAUS BUNCOMBE, THE MACHIAVELIAN CLOWN!

That time some lovely authors wrote stories, artist Nancy Brown screen printed them onto linen, I sewed the linen onto other hand-printed material and made them into lots of fringed pillows to be strewn around Brisbane Writers Festival venues. They were all 'acquired' as the Festival progressed.

Stack of 4 colourful fringed pillows with printed stories on the front.

An even bigger stack of fringed story pillows, with two tiny owl sculpts by Scott Radke standing guard over them as light streams in through the windows.

My friend's (@hollie_here on Insta) loungeroom wall filled with the incredible artworks she makes.

Plain wall filled with colourful artworks. One is a many legged plywood figure, arms pumping as it runs. There's a large autumnal fallen leaf. A many branched blue and red-brown plant which looks like it's growing out of the wall, and so many others with fronds which weave around each other. Aomw are smallish, some large.

My review of tesla amazing Magnetic Notes: paper that clings to anything

Small pad of Magnetic Notes: paper that clings to anything
By tesla amazing.

I've circled the word Paper and included a few questionmarks.

The open pad, filled with thin sheets of plastic. I've scrawled plastic on a sheet I'm holding up.

I've crossed out the word tesla on the front of the pad, so it now reads not amazing.

If I stole lots of stuff, systematically, in cozy crime lit that'd be 'a crime'. There'd be forensics etc. When #AI companies steal stuff then 'launder' it via apps they just do deals to change laws, pointing to laundering activity as evidence of consumer demand. Cozies are justice fantasy. #booksky

Some useful ABS #immigration data presented by data group immitrack. Data identifies the percentage of folk in each age group born overseas. The average is 32% 25-44 year olds are above 40%. I'm in the 60-64 (35.5%) group. The Aus workforce will be decimated by immigration cuts. #auspol

Galley Beggar Press (UK) almost went belly up when their major distributor went into receivership. Distribution is a big issue for all presses. The smaller the press, the bigger the risk. While warning indies of risks is good, warnings provide no solution to an industry-wide problem. #booksky

Just read some @brisbanetimes.bsky.social notes on a survey of 1000 Pauline Hanson supporters. Of the 1000 - and keep in mind Hanson's supporters are the only folk surveyed - only 'about half' were committed to voting for her in 2028.

Insta tile from the Brisbane Times. Blue sky above, the back of Pauline Hanson's head is in the foreground.
The post reads: The research finds that about half of Hanson's supoorters were totslly committed to voting for her at an election due in 2028.'

In binary m vs f data terms, men have been the minority in the US since the 1950s due to a higher mortality rate 'at nearly every stage of adult life,' and since '...migration flows tend to include a higher proportion of working-age men' it must truly be vexing for that certain kind of white man.

If they don’t have time to write the stories they absolutely won’t have the time or resources to fact-check whatever AI pumps out. So I guess regional Aus can wave bye-byes to facts and rare employment opportunities with the ABC.
