Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 17hA bit. It means Iofen didn’t quite get it right, and he’s running out of time and stamina to try again. 110 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 20h😂 I love that line! Perhaps not quite the sort of common ground the others in the room might have been thinking. 120 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 20hVery late to #WIPSnips. I like this moment, but I don’t think I’ve shared it before. After some…moving around…of magics between Changers, Iofen has been trying to return them to their rightful owners. Cassie gains an outsider’s perspective of what it looks like as they each check the result. 6172 0

Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 15/10/2026I don’t speak about him much, because he usually sends his minions (which are not having a good time), but this is probably Zalroth. He very much enjoys his role and the comfortable life it gives him. Using his powers to force other fae to swear oaths to him is a bonus. 110 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 15/10/2026She sounds fun to read, if not exactly fun for anyone else in the story… I do love a villain that’s clearly out there enjoying themselves. 110 0

Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 15/10/2026Sounds like an unpleasant journey, though I guess if no one is complaining, they probably have reason not to. 130 0

Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Oh I love that! Especially that “rapids” suggest things are not always calm there. 120 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026I love that different people see it differently. How does Ashrah see them (assuming she does)? 130 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026No problem. Yes, each light is a spirit which belongs to a person in the real world. It’s where people go when they dream. Different characters have their own descriptions of it, but they generally appear like points of light. An earlier snip, which might give more context for what is happening: 120 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026I love a bit of figurative language! One of the recurring ones throughout tWoM is George describing the spirits in the Spirit Realm as like stars in a night sky. 4151 0

Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026I love the artwork you have for this. Really emphasises the split between the pretty, verdant city on the surface vs what sits underneath. 110 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026I like that they all compare themselves to close family members, but for very different reasons. It’s nice that Mireia starts to understand her dad a bit more as she matures - a happy life is arguably better than a popular but unhappy one. 010 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026The Vaults - where things (people) get locked up. Water - contrasts and change. Safety, freedom, but also danger. The Granite Ballroom - elegance, extravagance, but also politics, tensions, fate. The fortress of Zaamhein - power, control, order, oppression. 160 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026When it burns, it forms a pivotal moment in his life where much of his old beliefs, that he clung on to so desperately, are gone. He leaves with a far more open mind, ready to face the truth. Let’s not get too deep into the symbolism of other places, but in brief: 160 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Even just that it’s supposed to be a secret place that nobody knows about, and yet at no point does George remain alone in it for any length of time. It reflects how George has been trying to isolate himself, but he can’t really do it. He wont admit it, but he loves and cares for others too much. 260 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026One big one is the cave which forms George’s hideout/home. It represents a lot of what is going through his mind at the various points he returns to it. It shines a light on the various lies he tells himself, and has to confront as the story goes on. 160 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 14/10/2026#LitHodgePodge There’s various bits of symbolism built into the settings of my books. I do like a good cave. There are at least three in tWoM, and two in the trilogy that form the backdrop to important events. They are primarily places where secrets are shared and truths come to light. 1101 0

Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Blue is definitely what she needs. (There’s not really any morality linked to one kind vs another. They’re just different) 110 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Yes. Fae is primarily blue. Earth is primarily green. 010 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Essentially, the chance to get back to the world of Fae, to find the love she was separated from back when the doors closed. Mòrag thought it was already over - that there were no witches with the right sort of magic left - so this one is a surprise. 110 0

Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 13/10/2026It’s been a little while since I’ve done a #WIPSnip Colour plays a big role in the magic system in my stories, so there was a lot of mentions of blue. This one is from the prologue of the trilogy, when we get a little insight into Mòrag’s motivations. 3234 0

Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Honestly, I don’t remember exactly what sparked it - I picked it up either late last year or early this year when I was looking for new books. It might have been the published feed after BluePit. In any case, I think it was the combination of the humour, plus monsters that made me pick it up. 110 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Authors, favourite lines, go “Darkness is rest and sleep; quiet and solitude; the soft comfort of white lies; the safety to be found in secrets and in sanctuary.” 030 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Yes, they all start with “i”. Barring a few loan-words from other languages, pronouns are are some of the very few which do. 040 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Possessive pronouns use the same, but they are suffixed onto the end of the noun they own. E.g. benar = home, so benaril = our home etc. For other types, I haven’t hammered out so many, but I do have ip (that/which/who) 140 0
Tina is Querying! @tinaduncan.bsky.social · 11/10/2026For personal pronouns, we have: ie (me), if (you), in (singular they), il (we), is (plural they) and ive (it). He/she are notably missing, because pronouns like “in” (they) can be combined with descriptors where necessary (not just gender, but all sorts of things, like alignment, or notable traits) 140 0
