Very excited to be offering three new one-hour illustrated talks for the Vermont Humanities Council Speakers Bureau. I've had a lot of fun putting these together, using my own experiences as a writer, a travel guide, and as a featured lecturer for National Geographic Expeditions to inform the research. Vermont author Tim Weed grounds a fantastical story with smuggled Mesoamerican treasure and a mysterious missing father in the familiar hills of his home state in his new novel, "The Gatepost."

In the novel "The Gatepost," Vermont author Tim Weed takes readers from the hills of southern Vermont into a world of ancient artifacts, missing fathers, and questions about what survives us. The story begins with a mysterious object connected to an ancient civilization but unfolds in a landscape that may feel surprisingly familiar to New England readers. NEPM’s Carrie Healy visited Weed at his home in Putney, Vermont, where he wrote much of the novel. The novel revolves around a displaced object and deals with the modern, high stakes world of smuggling and sequestering ancient treasures.

The book flood continues

We talked about my novel THE GATEPOST, its Vermont setting, the origin of its characters, psilocybin, dreams and hallucinations in fiction, and much more. I’ve been lurking here on Substack for a long while, but I’m finally going to start posting some of my writing.
