Why are judges so loath to sanction lawyers who file frivolous litigation and/or lie to them? Why tolerate vexatious litigation, especially of wealthy clients against less powerful people?

I've thought for a while that any challenge to a federal law or regulation ought to originate in a specific court; I figured DDC would be best, but housing it within a new circuit makes more sense. Good article!

Also, it’s almost never a good idea to sue over something like this because it brings attention to the issue. No one will remember this in two days, but if you sue it’s a live issue until the suit is over

I got my share of “kikes” before peacing out. Amusingly, I also got my account locked for using the word “trans” with no context to see what would happen

Sorry, that should read “kike,” not “like.” Autocorrect still thinks the former isn’t a word

I deleted my Twitter account after someone called me a like and it was ruled not a TOS violation. I followed that up by typing the word “trans” with no other context: my account was immediately locked for a week. Fuck that site and anyone defending it

Fun, speaking up in favor of the site where me being called a kike was ruled not a violation of terms, but me using the word “trans” with no other context got my account locked for a week, definitely a normal and decent thing to do

“4 years post graduation” is the dumbest possible measure. Law school is 3 years and often not started immediately, while med school is 4 years and you don’t make serious money for 3-7 years after that. You’d only choose this if you thought tech jobs were the only thing that matter

I mean, Republican VPs are usually the shrewd ones covering up for their stupid but charismatic Presidents. Bush Sr. for Reagan, Cheney for Bush Jr., Nixon for Ike, hell, even Pence in Trump 1. It's really just Quayle and Agnew who were both stupid and lazy before this.

Meanwhile, over on X, the Secretary of Homeland Security is posting about "vandalizing the demographics of America," a phrase which is either a chilling suggestion of white nationalism from Mullin or just straight pablum which means nothing but sounds just fash enough to excite the faithful.

“Vandalize the demographics of America” is either a chilling phrase suggesting that Mullin is a white nationalist or an absurdly meaningless bit of pablum which ignores 250 years of the constantly shifting demographics of a nation of immigrants.

Underneath is a picture of Mullin with a quote "How do you turn a country from democracy to socialism? You have to change the demographics."

I've come around to the idea of active discrimination of people who refuse vaccines. There's basically no genuine religious reason to not get vaccinated, and even if there were, Employment Division v. Smith remains good law (well, for now at least)

I enjoyed the hell out of the ASOIAF books, but it became extremely clear by about mid-season three that Game of Thrones was going to turn to dogshit. So many little changes to give it more "surprise the audience" and make it more "actor-y," plus a complete lack of understanding of the themes
