This front 4 for England is the right one.

Imagine having Harry Kane playing for your club side. You get him the ball in the box and he just scores. No bad touch, no scuffed finish, no putting it wide. You can undo a lot of great work by just having a normal striker playing for you. It's why strikers get the big bucks.

But for example Everton have spent a billion building a stadium that will maybe generate 50m a season more than Goodison. With that they will still turnover 400m less than the top 5. Ultimately the CL clubs are untouchable

I mean Villa and Newcastle have basically had to churn their entire squads and do strangely valued swap deals to stay compliant. In the past they could have challenged, now they have to know their place.

Allow unlimited equity injections (not debt) that cover all created liabilities. If you want to spend more than your "sustainable" budget then you need to put the full amount of the created liability in as cash. Couple it with a flat cap on total player costs.

How does it not? The top 6 turnover 5-700m and the next group are on 2-300m. The only way to "legally" match their spending is to increase revenues to the same level. How?

Journeyman 6: Southend United are over their trauma. Now it’s the next age: moving back up the leagues and remaining transparent. Kieron Dyer and Oliver Gage are leading that movement. It’s a fascinating club ⬇️ inews.co.uk/sport/footba...

Really funny (not actually funny) when supposedly left wing politicians who for years used to say it was insulting and abusive to call them right wing end up doing massively right wing things or work for massively right wing companies a few years later and by that time they just go “eh, so what“

The account generated about 50% of our incoming business so I can't delete it entirely. There are also people I like the work of who post on there and I dont want to lose touch. But I need to only look at people I follow.

5 minute scroll of the For You tab on twitter and I have seen someone with their guts hanging out, huge amounts of AI video that people can't seem to tell is AI, and "gender" campaigners now going full far right on every topic.

DCL back to his best. Pleased for him. Disappointed that Everton didn't manage to get him fit and motivated. Could have had a Gordon/Lookman/DCL front line.

I genuinely cannot see the red card worthy reaction from Foden. Some comments seem to be implying he has violently kicked him studs up in the bollocks. It looks to me like a flick of the ankle which connects the top of his boot with the stomach of Bruno. At least the pundits agree with me.

Oh blimey, here we go again. Time to vote in the National Trust AGM to keep so-called 'Restore Trust' off the council. Use the quick vote to ensure we don't split the anti-Restore vote. Or.... 1/2 www.nationaltrust.org.uk/who-we-are/a...

The three stages of my football life: Wow I'm the same age as him and he is playing in the Premier League. Wow I'm the same age as him and he is a manager in the Premier League. Wow that player is the same age as my child and he is playing in the Premier League. I reckon I'm 6 months off number 3

Agreed, although all suppliers pick out the same "good" players regardless of definitions. My view is that it is cool to be able to use for in-house automated tagging of your own games / sessions. But to scale a commercial project you will need licensed video.

If all pupils were to sit the test in English (if not a native speaker) and a second language of their choice (if a native English speaker): The native English second language scores would be lowest. The gap between native and immigrant scores would be far lower in non-English speaking countries.

Tim Keech @timkeech.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
I'm assuming that PISA tests are taken in the language the education system operates in? So a child in Finland takes a test in Finnish? Does the success of the immigrant population in English-speaking countries just reflect English being the dominant global language?

Important article by The Esk theesk.org/2026/09/03/t... Clubs going bankrupt is real. The spending is unsustainable. I think MRKT has lost £50k+ so far from these situations and have had to change our business model because of it.

A few years ago when working with a club every meeting was dominated by a single young player who was; high potential according to the youth coach but useless and a troublemaker according to the Head Coach. They were *this* close to releasing him before that coach was sacked. Now worth £5m+

Raises a question (and I've thought the same when rejected trialists become stars at other clubs) about just how difficult it is to assess talent.

Daniel Job is such a strange story. Standout offensive data in short minutes every year. Everyone says incredible dribbler but liability off the ball. No "football brain". Released on a free. Plays in the second tier and adds goals/assists (at a low level) now he is a $5m player after 6 months.

Amazing how EFC went from a solid squad lacking depth at full back to completely screwed if there is a single injury. To do this whilst not actually banking much in the way of profit is particularly bizarre.

Did a sample project for a club in 2024 where we suggested 2 players for their needs. Neither passed their checks - not good enough. Didn't get the contract. The players (700k each) were Femi Azeez and Mamadou Sangaré.

I am still scarred from it. I would see the 2 proposed signings as nice to have rather than vital. Put that money into full backs and a pacey CB and we'd be much better off

If IF the Richy feel is 35m and they also loan in Grealish then the talk about needing to balance the books and be sensible doesn't compute.

Selling Harrison Armstrong would be a huge strategic error from Everton. If you get a 19 year old already capable of playing PL football, who clearly has elite potential, then you do everything you can to keep them.

Lost out on an African player because a club from a 2nd tier Middle East offered a better contract. And when I say better I mean 10x better financially for the player. Great, life changing, generational wealth money and I'm genuinely pleased for the player. But insane football economics.

Aston Villa’s squad is crumbling while Spurs splash out. Are the financial rules fair?
Winning the Europa League and finishing fourth did not inoculate Villa and Spurs were not hampered by a season of woe
