Letting go? #sunset #photography #pugetsound #silhouette #pnw #beach
A person, in silhouette, walks along the beach after sunset with a hand outstretched toward the water as if they are dropping sand. A dock (with lights), some pilings are on the left in the distant foreground, and the Olympic Mountains and red clouds of the sunset are in the background.

Bit of an ominous-looking cloud rolls into Seattle just after sunset, taken from the UW ramp on the Burke-Gilman trail near Husky Stadium, just before 8pm Thursday September 10. #wawx #clouds #uw #photography #ominous #fall #sunset
A dark cloud on the left takes up about half of the frame, with the mostly clear sky sunset still relatively well-lit on the right. The photo was taken facing the west. Streetlights line the concrete ramp to the Burke-Gilman trail that curves a bit to the left as it crosses the street below (street below is not visable).

A Washington State Ferry, The M/V Puyallup, at the Edmonds ferry dock, with Venus, the crescent moon, the Olympic mountains, and clouds with a pink and blue sunset in the background. Just another stunning Edmonds waterfront sunset. This place is a cheat code for beauty, and especially with the cool breeze tonight, it was another all-around spectacular summer evening. We are lucky to be alive; we are lucky to be here, now. #edmonds #marina #dock #sunset #boats #photography

Seems like the vast majority of us stragglers took it all in stride, and appreciate the @ferries.wsdot.wa.gov crew that are going to be working late to get us home. People are playing cards, taking naps, laughing and joking.

I took the #scenicroute on a #roadtrip from Southern California, zig-zagging back and forth across the state. We spent one of the nights in Fort Bragg, California, where I caught this #crescentmoon setting over the #puddingcreek trestle. #photography #california #moon #trestle #sunset

It cleared up later, and I ran down to the water hoping to get a dramatic shot out over the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Got a potential Aurora alert, too. No dice. Got a fun little photo bomb by The Pleiades, but no Aurora and the moon was hilariously obscured by the ONLY clouds left 😂.

Watching Shadows Under the Market at seattlepublictheater.org was easily one of the highlights of 2025. Criminally underrated. I still can't believe this just ran for a little over a week and didn't go insanely viral, at least regionally. Such a great show. #theater #seattle

August may have been good, but I don't know because I was flying back from dropping a kid at college. Priorities; no regrets. I did take this shot out the airplane window on my Pixel 7a, somewhere over central California. The next night the smoke from the Bear Gulch fire was in the way.

TFW you have to reconsider your control group because it turns out they have been eating nuclear fallout. Thought of @funranium.bsky.social just now when I was reading a paper I was using as a reference to settle an argument in my extended family group chat.
Page from a study comparing the concentration of Strontium-90 in deer antlers between two experimental areas and a control area, with a paragraph containing the highlighted text "Consequently, the elevated concentrations of %Sr in the Silver Lake deer antlers is not
unexpected as there is an apparent higher background exposure level because of historic atmospheric
fallout from weapons testing."

Well, I went out last night and tonight, and got a few with the mountains, but none of them nearly as spectacular as I'd hoped for. The clouds were gorgeous, but the glare was just too much until the moon got close to the horizon. (also major "rule of thirds" violations...) Next month! #photography

I went out last night at sunset for a couple of hours, to try to catch a thin sliver of the moon, but the timing wasn't right, and the haze and clouds didn't work. Luckily, I turned 90 degrees to the north and noticed Mt. Baker trying to hide in the haze. #photography #mtbaker #edmonds

The texture and color in the clouds tonight was humbly stunning. Unfortunately, I was too lazy to swap lenses, so this is the best shot I got, and you'll all just have to take my word for it. #photography
Sunlit apartments with a hint of thundercloud creeping into the frame, which represents the photographer's humorously feeble attempt at composing a photo that emphasizes the texture in the clouds.
