Calgary could lose between 44,000 and 69,000 jobs if Alberta separates and trade costs rise, according to a new report commissioned by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. Separatist groups are refuting those claims. More details here 👇 #yyc @ctvnewscalgary.bsky.social www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/arti...

Canada historically bought more than 40% of US light-vehicle exports. The actual numbers are more important. In Q1/Q2 2025, Canadians bought roughly 346,000 US-built vehicles. In Q1/Q2 2026: roughly 270,000. That is about 76,000 fewer US-built vehicles sold in Canada.

Separation will hurt Alberta and Albertans. It will cause years of uncertainly and destroy our economy, leading to inevitable annexation by Uncle Sam. There are no benefits. Look at Quebec. Brexit. Catalonia.

$500B in new investment into Canada. Negotiating associate membership with the EU. Canada had a pretty good week! And it’s just Friday... how refreshing and inspiring it is to have a smart leader in charge. #CanadaStrong Think our PM deserves a tall cool one this Friday afternoon.

Loved my DBA class this weekend. Organizations are political systems, not machines. Diagnosis and change hinge on coalitions, history, power and interests. Business takeaway: problem ownership determines which intervention, structure or strategy can work. #haskayneBusinessSchool #DBA

Protectionism won’t save the US auto industry. 40% of US made autos are bought in Canada. Anyone wanna guess how much that drops in the future?

The hardest decisions often demand expertise we don’t have. Mortgages, retirement plans, healthcare. We’re asked to choose among complex trade-offs, then live with consequences we barely understood.

Employee engagement leaves fingerprints on the P&L. In 1,700+ retail stores, engagement predicted cleaner stores, and cleanliness was the customer-experience measure most consistently linked to sales and profit.

A company with roughly 250 employees sells in more than 160 countries. Conventional strategy says global reach requires global scale. Tabasco suggests otherwise: sometimes reach is not built into the organization. It is built into the product.

Shocking the US is so dependent on Canadian minerals and energy to drive the economy and military industrial complex, while simultaneously viewing Canada not only as a freeloader but also as someone who can be bullied and screwed over. Close to the FO phase of FAFO

Engaged employees keep stores cleaner, and cleaner stores sell more. In 1,199 big-box stores, cleanliness was the only part of customer satisfaction that predicted sales. If you run a retail chain, your satisfaction dashboard is probably tracking the wrong things.

Pledged aid to Ukraine averages about $8/month per citizen ($400 per citizen since 2022). The cost of a Netflix subscription… less than a blue check on X. Most of that is used buying American materials. The baltics are contributing $2000+ a citizen. Source: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.... .

222,000 signatures is impressive. It's still lower than the original threshold set by the Kenney government. Not to mention time frame and regional requirements. Key takeaway: without Danielle Smith's rule changes, the separatist petition would have failed.

Never underestimate the power of collective consumer action. One person boycotting a company makes little difference. Thousands or millions doing it can change corporate decisions faster than many governments.

Silos aren’t always harmful. In highly specialized, regulated, or confidential functions - such as legal, cybersecurity, finance, or R&D - they protect expertise, safeguard sensitive information, reduce risk, and enable focused decision-making. The key is coordinating across silos when needed.

Canada just committed $900M for Ukraine at the NATO summit in Turkey. For perspective - Since then war started (and thru April 2026) Canada has committed $451 per Canadian. We rank 14th out of 40 countries. This is $105 per year per citizen (about $8.50 a month). The same as a blue check on X

I think the argument that we are already engaged in a form of hybrid warfare with Russia and that we need to investment in things like a navy capable of defending underseas cables is 100% correct. But the argument that Russia might launch a conventional attack on NATO ‘by 2030’ isn’t compelling.

I have spent 25 years measuring how companies really work. Silos always cost more than anyone admits, slowing decisions and quietly raising your wage bill. Here is the part nobody tracks. You cannot fix what you cannot see. Read this HBR article: "How to Lead Across a Siloed Organization".
