An accidental find on ebay. This used book of matches is from The Starlight Grill at the Abercorn Arms, Stanmore. I am going to make a guess that it dates from the early 1970s. At that time the Abercorn & the other pubs listed on the inside was owned by Benskins, the Watford Brewers.

Yes, I think the changes were made in the late 1930s. Often photographs were taken for record purposes before the work was done.

West Hampstead Underground station 1935 & 2026. The whole ground floor has been altered, with the original station entrance now a flower shop, & the current entrance was once a Finlay's tobacconist. The rather nice arched windows have been lost in the process. 1935 image LT Museum Collection.

This Camden Council signage on Eversholt Street looks like it's been there a long time. I reckon it went up at the same time as the tower block it is attached to. My guess it went up in the late 1960s.

St Mary's Church, Eversholt Street, Somers Town, NW1, in the late 1820s, and this morning. The Church was built between 1824 and 1827, and had been in need of restoration. Fortunately the charity group Friends of St Mary's has secured monies through fundraising. The frontage now looks splendid.

3. In 1961 we are looking from the 1918 hangers in image 1, over to the Grahame White hanger. This was moved to its current site in the early 2000s. I contributed my 'now' photos to the @reelstreets.bsky.social website. You can see the rest of the locations on there.

2. I eventually identified the building behind the police car as the RAF Supply Control Centre, which was opened in June 1962. At the point of filming in the winter of 1961 it was still under construction. The same location now is covered by the Beaufort Park residential complex

RAF Hendon Aerodrome in 1961 & 2026. Last weekend, @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social screened 'Emergency', which was released in 1962. It used a number of locations in Colindale, in particular the site of the old Hendon Aerodrome. 1. The 1918 hangers, now absorbed into the 1972 RAF Museum.
