Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I saw the lifeguards at beaches in Wales this summer and felt nothing but respect for them. I bet the camaraderie is strong, but what a difficult job to have to do! Swim hats off to them. 010

Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Worth noting though that in the 80s, the district which has lurched to the right now was in East Germany at the time. The former DDR area is ripe ground for the right. Just like the right in the UK, they're yearning for something which either never existed, or was sh*t even when it did. 000

Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Pretty soon there will be a time in my life when I leave my house either on foot, bicycle, car, or bus and I'll go about my day without knowing what I'm doing. 120
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 24/08/2026I fear Todds future vision of robot sports is that they'll be designed, built and controlled by AI which will make it completely *snore* 010
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 24/08/2026People who routinely place bananas in supermarket plastic bags! 🙄 Bananas grow with biodegradable packaging already included! Though I feel guilty eating bananas because of the food miles. Can't win really. 1142
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 24/08/2026I used to love watching Robot Wars on TV in the UK. I presume the format came from the US originally. To be fair though, those robots were designed and built by humans which made it more entertaining when their creations got sawn in half in the first minute. 110
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 24/08/2026The battle is probably already lost. The upside 'might' be a greater movement back to trusted analogue ways of doing things. I mean, we all managed quite well without Pinterest and I daresay we can learn to do so again. 010

Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Just back from a superb holiday in West Wales. As per usual, I spent my time shying away from pretty sunshiny photos. The moment the sea mist rolled in, I got my camera out. Llangrannog beach, Cardigan Bay, August 2026 010
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 02/08/2026The time I taught my daughter to ride her bike, the very first time I let go of the saddle and watched her peddle off I couldn’t resist yelling, “don’t go too far!” in a Dustin Hoffman voice. 010
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 24/07/2026I was recently given a powered height-adjustable desk and I love it! At least for the reason that when I touch preset 4 it rises from 73cm - 110cm in a way that reminds me of the volcano doors opening in a James Bond film. All I need now is a white cat and a shark tank beneath my feet. 110

Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 02/07/2026I'm just back from a fantastic and entertaining audience with James Ellis and Roger Deakins hosted by Topping & Co bookstore at Komedia in Bath. It was a sell-out evening, a packed theatre, to hear about their collaborative lives in film. 010
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 02/07/2026EVERY time I try to get on with my work, one app or another decides to interrupt me with an update. This is no longer productive. 000
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 29/06/2026But how is anyone meant to know you're on an emergency mission and not just yet another impatient d**k? How is dangerous driving meant to get you to the hospital any quicker? Even ambulances on emergency call-out have to stop at red lights. 110
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 29/06/2026I want a car that fires lasers into blinding headlights and takes out the bulbs. That'd be my solution. It might be radical, illegal and downright dangerous, but it sounds fun... plus LASERS! 010
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 29/06/2026My comment was sort of a joke, but thanks I'll look it up 😁 140
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 29/06/2026How does seeing for miles help? If people can see further, they tend to drive faster, cancelling out the safety factor. And I get blinded by small cars with LED lights too. A Civic is lower down, don't assume you're not blinding the driver you're behind. BMW Minis are about the worst for this. 100
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 29/06/2026They're favoured by passive-aggressive (or just plain aggressive-aggressive) drivers who will say they help them see better in the dark. Even if that's true, it just means they drive faster in the dark which cancels out any safety advantage they had. 000

Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 29/06/2026RIP Penelope Keith, legend of a gentler age. I took this photo of Penelope circa '89 during a sit-down interview with a local reporter when she was performing at Theatre Royal, Bath. This frame was never published, but I always liked it. 110
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Makes sense, thanks. I’m happy to see we waste almost no bread. The odd stale end is left to dry until I turn it into breadcrumbs. Occasionally I’ll put an end in the compost bay. 000
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 25/06/2026I should add, I normally make multiple loaves in one batch and freeze what isn’t for immediate use. I defrost it naturally and it’s pretty much as good as fresh from the oven. 000
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 25/06/2026I don’t know what goes into mass-produced bread that makes it go mouldy, presumably some kind of preservative! 200
Tim Gander @tim-gander.bsky.social · 25/06/2026At the risk of bragging, I make all our bread by hand. Have been for about a dozen years now and what I’ve noticed is my bread never goes mouldy. I don’t refrigerate it, just keep it covered. 100
