There was a time when to create a realistic game you needed to know maths and matrix transformations to build your own 3D engine first. These days almost all games just use Unity/another engine. The outcome: The world today has a lot more games and a lot more game developers!

We're living in a global world, ruled by inter-state mutual dependencies, supply chains are deeply inter-connected, we witnessed it during the COVID. It's not going to change anytime soon but that doesn't seem a valid reason to not take our destiny into our own hands.

I can't believe I'll say this in 2025 but: We, EU tech engineers, should start to seriously consider EU made alternatives to every American SaaS & business we currently use. Tariffs will impact goods but soon services too. We cannot rely on the US anymore as a reliable economical partner anymore.
