Hey #openscience people, have you come across any registered reports on existing datasets to test new hypotheses? By definition (www.cos.io/initiatives/...), it applies to where data collection has not begun, so I am asking whether it can be used for secondary data analysis.

This is a follow-up to my last post about my decision to quit my professor job. One way Solitude Lab-formally registered and structured as a nonprofit-will continue to support the academic work I care about is by organizing virtual seminars where we invite researchers to share their work and ideas.

The number of times I have to *kindly* correct a sentence in manuscript referencing a research finding and say the result doesn't really support that claim. Of course, the claim is usually picked up in the Discussion and in itself can be vague enough it's *technically* not wrong. Make it stop!

If you see a claim that is not carefully interpreted, nor it is backed up by high-quality evidence or appropriate methodology Do you write a paper to criticise, inevitably citing the work and adding to its circulation, or ignore in hope it will slowly become irrelevant (not ideal ofc)?

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905. Today we visited the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Museum exhibit on international anti–Vietnam War movements, featuring posters and black-and-white photographs from protests across Europe, including France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. A large sign above reads in Italian, “Il Viet-Nam e la nostra coscienza,” and a prominent poster says “Paix au Vietnam.”
Museum display showing a bilingual Vietnamese and English panel titled “The Telegram from President Ho Chi Minh,” dated 1968, addressed to American anti-war activists. The panel is surrounded by historical photographs, including an image of the U.S. Capitol and protest scenes.
