What difference would that have made? Zack only had one vote, just like any other Green member. This was primarily a vote of conscience. Did Zack, or any other Green high-profiler, really have any great 'leadership' role to play in that? And: the Party leads its representatives, not vice versa.

They're going on the various definitions of zionism that are abstracted from material reality. None of those has ever come to the fore since 1947. The Palestinians have *always* been persecuted by any real, concrete zionism that Israelis have lived by. Zionism has *always been* racist in reality.

I think all you need to do, Nick, is explain how Zionism shouldn't inevitably lead to persecution of the Palestinians. That is: why a mass of Jews who see their right to the land, on top of a mass of non-Jews occupying the land, by no means means the latter is going to suffer in any way.

What's needed is a membership-wide vote on this issue. I'd particularly like to see those who regret the motion being passed presenting their arguments as to why zionism is *not* racism. Which ever way such a membership-wide vote goes, I'd require that the leadership and MPs adhere to the result.

You're assuming the tired old fiction that mildness leads to political power. The Greens were more of a protest movement in the past. But since Polanski took the helm, and the Greens became more boldly left wing, it's shown itself as having a massively *greater* chance of getting power.

Yes, you're right: it's people in power I mean. Not the citizenries of countries across the world. In fact I don't think I've seen such a huge disconnect between the former and the latter on an issue. Governments, many politicians and MSM in most countries on one side; citizens on the other.

Did you know? In 1975 the United Nations general assembly passed a resolution declaring "zionism is a form of racism & racial discrimination" (the resolution was revoked in 1991 because Israel made this a condition of its participation in peace talks)
