People are always surprised I haven’t seen Twilight before. I dunno what that says about me and if that’s a good thing or a bad thing XD Now I have become the stereotype.

And not just elementary or middle schools either, there’s way too many cases of these bans or “challenges” happening in high schools, even colleges and public libraries in ADULT sections. Most of them discuss sex ed or rebellion to some degree, it’ll be interesting to see the titles from this year

America has had most of these in English and Literature classes for decades but a few people found popularity in keeping the bible but not the Quran etc. a lot of them have been removed but it depends on the location, ironic how many are about book burnings and authoritarianism.

Yea I mean it’s rare that any liberal groups would support banning books, a lot of this has ramped up in the past few years by a maga group called “moms for liberty” they go across the country banning anything that’s too gay or scary for them, the boards just lets them, so it’s a much bigger list

Books you might be surprised are frequently banned/censored (up to today) in US public schools, curriculum, universities, and libraries: - 1984 - The Fault in our Stars - Catcher in the Rye - To Kill a Mockingbird - How to be Antiracist - The Handmaid’s Tale - Twilight - All Stephen King novels 👇

It’s banned book week from the 4th to the 10th. You’d be surprised what’s been banned, channeled, or burned the most. “Read whatever they’re trying to keep out of your eyes and your brain. Because that’s exactly what you need to know.” - Stephen King pen.org/report/the-n...

Right and it’s not like Carrie is a huge book, it was King’s first ever but there’s a lot of flashback stuff and the ending is much bigger than the original movie could’ve done so I think it’ll help flesh things out a lot more, maybe even more than the book has, which is unfortunately very relevant.

010

June (King of Catboys) 🐈‍⬛🧚🏻🏴👑 @throwingfits3.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Yeah me too a lot of people are upset they’re even trying to remake it, but the book was impossible to do in the 70s as good as it is, the sfx and attention to detail with extra time I think will make it pretty good, maybe not better than the original, but I think people will be surprised

110

June (King of Catboys) 🐈‍⬛🧚🏻🏴👑 @throwingfits3.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Yeah the original movie was from like 1971 I think so it was very old they’ve tried remaking it before but never book accurate or well made, the last try was in 2013 now Flanagan bought the rights since he’s the best at King so far and with the budget and time the ending it can be alot more accurate

I know a lot of people are worried about Carrie coming out, but it’s Mike Flanagan, the same guy who made Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game, Life of Chuck, and The Haunting of Hill House. I think I found further proof it’s gonna be pretty well done. (And Carrie is my favorite King book so)
