Most likely @avavsystems.bsky.social will be able to do it or to recommend someone more local who can!

My copy of this record is marked with a tax stamp that shows it was sold between 1943 and 1946. "Whole self" apparently even predates the version we know today of the rest of the lyrics! www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_En...

Yes, I transfer anything irreplaceable pretty much as soon as I get it - but I also enjoy playing the cassettes!

Very annoying when a cassette decides it doesn't want to play any more. Oh well, at least it's a mass-produced one this time and not an Esperanto one where there might not even be any other copies anywhere in the world to replace it with!

I invented a fairy chess piece that can move to any square to which it could not legally move if it were any other chess piece. I called it a Joker, but I now think Cat would be better.

The best thing to do is to try and find other records of the same person and cross-reference. Did he baptise any other children at the same church, or can you find him on the census? (Or I can have a look for you if you'd like!)

Does anybody know what happened to Gravestone Photographic Resource (gravestonephotos.com)? It was an incredibly useful site but seems to have been down for at least a couple of months now. :( #genealogy

Evening all, #AncestryHour! Today I've been going through my genealogy database to try to weed out entries where I'd marked an occupation or place as illegible. About half of them I managed to figure out what they actually said, and most of the rest are genuinely not readable at all.

This was really interesting and helpful! It reminded me to go through my database and make sure any specific details of suicides weren't included in the publicly-shared information. Thanks!

Here is a comparison of how Red Dwarf, “Holoship” was first introduced back in 1992 on BBC Two network, and how network, Wales and NI introduced it last night. Forgive my poor editing done at 2am.

Good evening #GenHour! I've not got much genealogy news to report this week, but a friend found my name on a gravestone about 35 miles away from where I live. Unfortunately the rest of the stone is hard to read, so we're not sure when he died - and I can't find him in the parish burial register!

#genealogy Important 🧵on tracing facts back to their original sources. Please read. It's so easy to fall into the "so many trees say this, it must be true!" trap.

A fairly quiet week for me research-wise. Still plodding onwards with the French people, but I did do a little bit of Devon a few days ago and got a new DNA match (with someone who was actually already in my tree!) today. #AncestryHour

What's the best practice for recording French republican calendar dates? GRAMPS will accept them and sorts them properly, so should I just enter them as in the record, or convert them to Gregorian? Or maybe put the Gregorian date in the event description for easy reference? #GenHour

This week I found out that FamilySearch has searchable indexes of French BMD records, which makes that part of my extended tree a lot easier than the last time I tried! The transcribed dates are often slightly wrong though, so worth battling through the old French handwriting nonetheless. #GenHour

I still wouldn't be born yet. But in 1926 my great grandfathers were an ironmonger, an inspector in the fire brigade, the manager of a gentlemen's outfitter and a farm labourer.

I always assume that they must have a reason for believing the information in their tree - so I try to find out what the reason is. Often it turns out not to be a very good reason, but sometimes it points me to something actually useful!

I would also submit that the presence of a corner where the road suddenly turns through almost 90 degrees (junction 5) disqualifies any consideration of it being a circle. As does the fact that there's a break in it. At best it's an arc of about 357 degrees.
