SURPRISE! The definitive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate DLC is live! Launch trailer below! Finish the main story! New playable character and a MOST ADORABLE ally! I truly believe The King’s Gambit is the best TMNT writing I’ve done. Anyone who doesn’t share this isn’t my friend.

Awful news. My sympathies with all the good folks at xbox and those affected by the shockwaves that follow. The horrorshow continues...

I wrote a short film about a legendary ex-underground tournament fighter. It’s called LEAVING JACKSON COLORADO and is directed by @brandxjon.bsky.social. It’s premiering on his YouTube channel TheBXI on June 17th. Would love it if you all checked it out, and helped us spread the word!

Cline's book on this is definitely a go-to place for this - very good complete overview of all the factors. And it turned "goddam sea peoples" into a household meme for the wife and I for months

Uh-huh. Even if this eternal "soon" finally delivers rather than be a neverending threat... It's been possible to make these worlds with procedural generation for years now. It's nothing new, nor is it answering the question "ok but does anyone wants to play endless content with no intentionality"

Why would a QB annoy? It's the one position you can't overthink - unless you have a franchise qb (which the Hawks haven't for a few years), you take yours shots until you hit

Saw Sinners over the weekend and can only join the chorus in recommending seeing it, especially now in cinema where it's an intense experience. The first half especially, with its engrossing performances and incredibly well-paced, detailed worldbuilding is worth the price of admission by itself.

Went to pick this one up alongside some other but noticed you don't ship to my region (Taiwan). Anywhere I could get an order in or just outside your efforts? No worries if so - totally get it. Such cool art though!

It is an interesting socio-economic system we built where I look at a delusional madman with ambitions to found a nation/become God and can only think "well he's probably doing less harm than most billionaires out there"

Drop a fight scene you love. Jackie Chan vs Kwan Yun and Ron Smoorenburg in Who Am I? A lot driven by nostalgia I don't doubt - I loved this movie as a kid and grew up in Rotterdam. But I still love the mix of martial arts, music and usual Jackie Chan physical comedy youtu.be/L0FWMk79ELo?...

And this isn't even about esoteric concepts of deeper "meanings" - without *intent* you can never understand what makes for good writing, and only produce mediocre and oftrj crude writing.

Thomas Beekers @thomasbeekers.com · 28/03/2025
Working through string revisions with one of my narrative designers today reminded me of a foundational truth here - you have to understand the meaning, intent behind your writing choices, to have purpose in writing. LLMs by definition can only produce facsimiles, but never understand why.

Absolutely love smart solutions like this. I think a lot of recent releases have shown you can still get a lot of the same emotional impact, and not risk losing players, as long as you're consistent and deliberate, even when varying between VO and non-VOd

I will say this - staying the course was a higher-floor play for Schneider. Field an 8-10 win team with no playoff win. Better odds for job security. I gotta admire the willingness to make higher-variance bets given his job stability is probably not at its peak.

See now on this part we're back in total alignment. Very concerning to not see a more aggressive approach on OL free agency - wasn't that supposed to be the whole point?

Thomas Beekers @thomasbeekers.com · 10/03/2025
That's fair. Though I hesitate to name a year where moving on from a good QB is ever without risk, even when said QB can really only decline from here. Was not too dissimilar with Russ. I'm willing to wait it out and see where the chips lands, anyhow - I'd be fine with Darnolf on a flexible contract

Thomas Beekers @thomasbeekers.com · 10/03/2025
(A significant guaranteed $$ commitment to Darnold or signing Rodgers for any amount of time I would agree would be a poor move but that's only theoretical right now)

Geno is a very solid QB who played well. He was also trending down, is 34 years old, and had one real year left on his contract. I have to be honest Jacson, I'm failing to grasp how either retaining or letting him go would be an impactful move for the midterm future?

Thomas Beekers @thomasbeekers.com · 08/03/2025
Funny, I logged in figuring fans would be pretty pleased. A third round pick is amazing value. How many even decent years does Geno have left in him? Unanimous panning seems like an odd response

I would not necessarily have guessed a side story involving adult baby play, diapers and shaved ice would end up with me bawling my eyes out at a beautifully renditioned emotional crescendo, but that is the magic of Like a Dragon...

Right now I'm very engaged in thinking through microtensions and smaller arcs for projects in early ideation so this was very nice to read - coming to a similar conclusion I've been driving towards but from another angle.

Thomas Beekers @thomasbeekers.com · 02/01/2025
A very interesting point and I think matches well with a lot of learnings from RPGs, where engagement in side content and more immediate character arcs is often higher than the main story. I've mentally deprioritized the main story because of it, but maybe it's more of a structure issue
