Now this is what more ads aimed at motorists should look like: ❌ 🚗"Done with standing still?" ✅ 🚲"Take the bike tomorrow!" Not just another expensive ad that glorifies car use, but one that uses a simple message to point out smarter travel options (and real freedom)!
Photo of a wide cycle path with a green strip on both sides. On the left in the green strip is a lamppost with an advertising board on it. The advertising is aimed at motorists and suggests that they take their bike tomorrow if they are tired of standing still in their car. To the left of the advertising board is a parking strip that is full of cars and to the left of that is a roadway.

In less than a year Utrecht transformed its unattractive and busy inner ring road into a livable and green city boulevard. Less car traffic, new trees, more green, cleaner air, improved livability. A win on many levels!
Before and after photo of Sint Josephlaan in Utrecht. The before photo shows a four-lane car sewage straight through a residential area. A narrow sidewalk and narrow cycle path on both sides, but there is no greenery at all. The after photo shows the new situation, in which the number of lanes has been halved and a lot of space has been added for greenery. Both on the sides and between the lanes.

When the Dutch invest in cycling infrastructure, they invest in something that is both functional and beautiful. This contributes to cycling not so much being a functional activity, to get from a to b, but also a recreational and social activity.

Buses kill and seriously injure many cyclists in London every year and their average speed is at record lows. Protected cycle tracks keep buses moving efficiently and, more importantly, keep people on bikes - of all ages - safe. When cities prioritize safe cycling infrastructure, everyone wins.

In 1988 there is a lot of car parking, this has been removed in the modern day image with build outs and greenery replacing them

Eerste Atjehstraat, Amsterdam in 1974 and today. Residential streets don’t need to be wide, asphalt-heavy, or filled with car parking. By narrowing roads, using paving instead of asphalt, and limiting parking, we slow traffic and create more space for greenery, play, and community life.
shows two images of a street over time, one with a wide asphalt road and lots of car parking and the same today with paving, a narrow lane and dominated by trees, open spaces and a playground
