I baked a cake using my cousin’s recipe! Katherine Truax Hallett (1904–1984) shared this cake with a genealogy friend in Mont. Co., Indiana. Gonna make some coffee and tuck in.

Mystery #9: Mr. & Mrs. Dove Too complex to write in this space, so if you're curious about the family in the pear orchard, check the alt text.
A family in a pear orchard.

Postmark Wingate, which points to Charles J. Dove who lived with his sister and her brother in 1910. Problem: Josie Dove had died in 1904, and there is no evidence that Charles remarried after she died. However, the personnel of this group photo do match the living members of that family in 1910: 1. Charles J. Dove (51), 2. “Mrs. Dove” (?), 3. Della Dove (20), 4. Ivy Dove (16), 5. Hazel Dove (14), 6. Robert Dove (11), 7. William Smith (BiL, 58), 8. Rachel Dove Smith (54), 9. Charles Smith (nephew, 32), 10. Pearl Smith (niece, 29), and 11. Maria McKinney (85) (4M, 7F)
From Left to Right, then, I guess: 1. Maria, 2. Rachel, 3. Pearl, 4. William Smith, 5. Robert (child on ground), 6. Della (in tree), 7. unknown man, 8. Charles Dove (beard, hat), 9. Hazel (behind trees), 10. Charles Smith, 11. Ivy — (5M, 6F) “Mrs. Smith” (or another family member) would have to be absent.Postmark Wingate, which points to Charles J. Mystery #8: Orpha Weird name, right? Nope, super common in 1910, and applied to men & women. There were at least 14 in Montgomery County alone! Frank's brother John was John Orpha Thompson! IIRC, Oprah was intended to be named Orpah. It's biblical?

Mystery #5: cousin Grace? This one is a stretch. Grace married Alvin Thompson, son of James F. Thompson, who married Jane Moore, Fannie's aunt. Alvin was first cousin to both Fannie & Frank. Grace Hall's maternal g-grandpa married Rachel Bryant. Fannie's maternal grandpa married Margaret Bryant. 🤷

(Continued) Frank Thompson, Fannie's husband, had a McIntyre (or McIntire) for a mother: Sarah Ann McIntyre Thompson (the same woman who *cannot* be in a photograph from 1930 iykyk. Mystery because surely these descendants of T. J. McIntire must be in some way cousins to Frank.
Unmailed postcard from Advance, Indiana addressed to Frank Thompson. Super faded pencil, but above the clear "Mr. & Mrs. W. H. McIntire" reads "your cousin a" Pastoral birthday card.

Mystery #4: T. J. McIntire Thomas Jefferson McIntire (1828–1915). His granddaughter Nellie had been married to Fannie's brother Edgar. She, her brother Frank, Frank's wife Fay, Fay's mom Eva, Frank & Nellie's dad W. H., W. H.'s brother J. H., J. H.'s wife Martha, and all their children sent cards.

Provenance! Yes! I wish that people had to acknowledge this when posting. There’s an image that comes to mind: fiveman.jpg. A distant cousin uploaded it to FS. He left no source. It’s probably the only picture of two of these men (Everett Shelley & Harry Linn) and the only pic of all five cousins.
Fiveman. Five men aged roughly 20–10 arranged in order from tallest to shortest. Labels read: Shelly, Lynn, Roy Thompson, Arthur Moore, Lynn

There’s a missing brother in this family, so I’d hoped. But also, the other unmatching James card threw me. James wrote to Frank’s wife Fannie, unmailed. Frank’s uncles James F. Thompson was married to Fannie’s aunt Sarah Jane. So, she and her husband had double cousins.

Didn't find what I was looking for, but I did find the County Jail. As occupation it lists what they're in for, which is really funny.
1880 Census record. William King, Sheriff, listed with wife Kesia, daughter Elizabeth, and father William Sr. Next lists George McKinsey, "stealing horses," Susan Omsley (employee of the jail), Julius Cox, "bastardy," David Bryce, "horse thief," Philip Lee & James McNulty, both "petit larcency."

Don't knowPeggy Flanagan is lying to voters. In her Senate campaign, Flanagan says she doesn't take any corporate PAC money, but the truth is she has taken millions of dollars from corporations. Just before she announced her run for Senate, Flanagan raised hundreds of thousands from oil companies, Big Tobacco, Big Pharma, and a private-prison company tied to ICE detention cen-ters, for the special-inter-est group that is now bankrolling her campaign.
