nothing raising interest rates can't fix

Most macro-economists unquestionably believe that higher interest rates cool economic growth. So we are most likely going to be caught in a spiral: Inflation > Fed raises interest rates > Higher Bond yields > Higher Federal deficits > more inflation. This will continue until something breaks.

One thing about the AI Rationalists as religious sex cult is I find it actually supports my position that the true argument against AI is also fundamentally religious. We Humanists believe that AI is not actually inevitable and actually we, as humans, have no need for it. It makes us less human.

Ben Phelps @thisisbenphelps.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
I feel like relatively recently I could still do a quick Google search and relatively easily find an answer to almost any IT computer problem and this is no longer really the case. AI might tell you the answer, or it could give you the answer but 1 step wildly incorrect.

I realize everybody is negatively polarized against anything Trump says for obvious reasons, but this is actually pretty dangerous. Raising interest rates would be bad. They should be lowered.

I'll add some nuance here — most local pushback against data centers is actually quite fluent, and not grounded in the more wild-eyed rhetoric you see on social media. Very often, the core premise is a simple, correct one: you can't trust what Big Tech says in its promises to a local community.
