New show today on @campradio.bsky.social! Tune in at 5pm CET today hear all the tunes, including a brand new one from Corvid One Cassette @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social. listen.camp
A field of yellow grass in the foreground, framed by a line of green trees behind. There is a sci-fi inspired tower complex rising impossibly high on the horizon before a sky filled with giant multicolored gaseous cloud. The text reads The Enforced Reincarnation Hour at the top and Tuesday, 5-6pm CET 11am-noon ET, CAMP Radio at the bottom.

George Fenton, an absolute giant of film music, Gandhi and Blue Planet among his very best. Truly one of the greatest, and some of the first music I loved youtu.be/eODbpERvOrg

RIP George Fenton, forget the prestigous movie themes and Oscar nominations. You gave us moody guitar noodling and accordians as our sunday evening soundtrack. youtu.be/1y5E63jGT2I?...

I think this manifested as being terrified of fairly random people. I definitely have a memory of telling another kid that I thought I saw Dracula drive past our primary school. Probably freaked them out too

The first ever media that scared me was a book about horror films a friend showed me when I was 5. I somehow ascertained from the various stills that Draculas were real (I didn’t know the word vampire) and they wore high collars and drove red vintage cars. Would have been 1979 so pre-‘Christine’ 🤷‍♂️

The first thing I saw that scared me enough to not keep watching was this giant hand from a repeat of Doctor Who, Carnival Of Monsters, probably about 8yo. Mainly because one of my earliest childhood nightmares was of a giant hand picking up handfuls of people and dropping them into a mincer

Such a great pride in their conservatism but also ignorance of historic context. TBH I see similar attitudes in later Gen-X/hip hop and electronic music fans but not *as* bad. When coupled with conservatism or historical ignorance it often comes with a big dollop of inbuilt erasure or even racism

There’s really nothing more tiresome than old punks. At least the same ratio of punk was 💩 as it was in prog or literally any other genre. I’ve no idea why they never grew out of this sanctimonious tunnel vision bs

Since it’s a rare serious STR post (I think): I feel, like many in non-song-based music, those 70’s Germans are my spiritual godfathers musically speaking (especially with our Black Pylon stuff!) but apart from the occasional foray into space-rock, kosmische seems way too escapist for what I’m doing

It’s just German prog-rock, but good prog because the process is in experimenting with new technology and not testing the limits of convoluted solos. Cluster were very earthy and nature-inspired too but I never want to tarnish them with the same prog brush

When Billy Joel sings “When I wore a younger man’s clothes” in Piano Man, he’s referring to the time he was a youthful-looking rookie cop who went undercover in a high school to investigate gang crime.

I see. So if I am a singer and I renovate my Aunty’s bedroom for a few quid, you could say that I am Rhythm & Beige

Are artists painters or singers? I don’t understand all this jargon yet. One type of music I had explained to me was R & B (which stands for Rhythm and Blues) so that seems pretty straightforward, at least once I work out which bit is blue

Don’t you mean more people? Or do you mean you want Elton John to keep writing more songs about her. Like an unhealthy amount, to the point where his friends and loved ones feel forced to intervene?

Well I’ve changed my mind because the whole point of the Black Pylon tape label was that we can release music as soon as we make it. The new Corvid One Cassette will be out in a few weeks 🐦‍⬛

It’s so peculiar to me how people my age are still framing music industry and culture through the lens of the 20th century. “I hear X on the radio all the time, I HATE it but at least I’m not ‘out of touch’ ” That’s not how things are in this day and age, there’s more out there than BBCRadio 1, 2, 6

Are you listening to the same radio stations you were 30 years ago?
100
Third Kind Records @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Well if so many people are doing what you’re saying then maybe it’s a pretty small aspect of the culture
000
Third Kind Records @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
I suspect when people make a point of saying they haven’t heard of it they’re also making a point about the figures/charts/popularity whatever not being that relevant anymore both to them and in terms of cultural impact
100
Third Kind Records @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Those are two completely different things. In the 90’s you couldn’t escape an enormously popular song if you wanted to. Big new songs every week, in shops, on tv, radio, relentless. There’s almost never that impact now. That Harry Styles song is the only one I couldn’t escape in recent years

Third Kind Records @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
I understand young people not understanding the difference between music consumption in the 1960s-1990s and now, but it seems to be most older people too. If you explain it to them slowly they look at you like a conspiracist

It never occurred to me to check out their albums simply because songs like ‘Don’t Stop’ and ‘Everywhere’ were rinsed to death for decades. Ridiculously, it was the Ocean Spray guy that made me curious. I listened to Rumours so much this summer - absolutely beautifully recorded songs 👌💯 deserved 💐💐💐

‘Potentially’ they could have earned £252k from that 84 million-stream-track, although that’s rarely the case
140
Third Kind Records @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
On Spotify some of their older tracks are between 9-14 million streams with one track at over 84 million streams. The most played track on the new album is up to 21k streams so far, so subtracting the first thousand plays that’s about £60 for that
