Only now realizing that maybe the things I keep telling myself are anxiety thoughts are actually maybe paranoia thoughts. Because I don't fully believe them I was thinking "anxiety" but I keep thinking about them and only now do i realize they might be absurd. Have I isolated myself as well? Hmm.

OKAY SO basically I have an idea for a fic about Hazel and Gat not long after they start traveling together, so they're still figuring out how they work, but also run into big trouble. I drew this comic (instead of writing for god knows what reason) as a sort of summary of what would happen #saiyuki

fan comic of Hazel and Gat from Saiyuki. Hazel hands Gat his wallet. "Here, knock yourself out." Gat: "...Why?" Hazel: "Go and have some fun, Gat. Do whatever you want." Gat looks disappointed. He thinks, "I want you to look at me...to talk honestly with you." Gat turns to leave. "...OK. I'll be back later." Hazel waves and makes a noise of acknowledgement.

Hazel tilts his head down while looking conflicted and sad. Gat goes shopping. "I'm not sure what to do, so I'll purchase supplies. You want me to 'go have fun' as though it'll make us feel better. I want to understand you. I guess I'm starting to."
A young boy gets Gat's attention. "Hey there, Mister! You look awfully sad." Gat looks at the boy. The boy says, "Don't worry, sir. It'll be over soon."

A BANG is heard from the buildings behind Gat. Gat turns toward the sound. "...I may finally be realizing..." He touches one of his guns. The boy yells, "Hey, wait!" Gat has started running. "...what I want to do with this borrowed life.."

"Don't you know? You don't have any worth." #saiyuki I decided to redraw an old fanart from 2017.

Fanart of Hazel Grouse from Saiyuki. He's sitting on a stone bench, and there are large bushes behind him. He's looking into a hand mirror, smiling. His insides are visible and falling out, and blood is splattered all over him.

I love that whenever Hazel references something in extras, it's always older, "out of date" stuff. Also of course that he and Gat emulate manzai duos.

I started a Hazel drawing last night and I can tell a difference in style from the Hazel I drew 6 months ago. Something is different. Mostly it surprised me, I didn't think my style changed very much. It's a redraw of a 2017 fanart so I'm pretty excited about it. The flowers and guts one. 🥰

You know that feeling when you think about how life has happened and all the choices (or perhaps in my case, not-choices)and things that you failed and wonder how life could be different? I'm feeling that today. All the shit started in 2013. I survived being unmedicated up until 2022. Now I'm here.

[from 2017] An old, little comic for y’all. Some of y’all have seen it before, but I haven’t posted in a while and I found this again, and thought I’d share. I loved (and still do) modern hazgat AUs with bittersweet vibes and this was one of those. #saiyuki “things left unsaid”

First page of a small Saiyuki fan comic that is a full shot of a room with a bed and desk. It’s a modern AU. The large window’s blinds are down. Gat is sitting in the chair at the desk drinking a cup of coffee while Hazel is still laying in the bed. The sun is shining through the closed blinds.

Close up shot of Gat drinking the coffee with a contemplative expression.

We cut to a later time and Hazel is out of the shower, finishing up as Gat comes in to bring clothes.

Hazel stretches, then notices Gat, who looks away as he offers him the clothing.

"Mister Sanzo. That was just unfair." #saiyuki

Page 1 of a Saiyuki fan comic. Hazel kneels on the ground in front of the youkai child. The child says, "If I die, that other baby'll live?" and Hazel replies, "That's right."
Hazel: "You're always hungry and bein' chased, right?" There is a depiction of young abandoned Hazel eating by a garbage can. Another depiction of young Hazel standing in an alley and looking out. Hazel: "Aren't you tired of livin' like that?"
Hazel, thinking: What will you become? What will you destroy?
Beneath those thoughts is a pool of blood with a small vase of ruined flowers sitting in the pool.

The youkai child: "...OK. I don't care if I die."
Young Hazel sits, staring up at the sky. The next panel is a close-up of his dirty face.
Hazel thinking: But I-- Even still--
Below those thoughts is a small panel of Filbert, the top part of his face not visible. There is an oblivious crowd behind him.
The youkai child: "...I don't want...to die."

The youkai child sobs as he screams: "I don't wanna die! I don't wanna die!! I don't!!"
The child crumples to the ground while Hazel stands watching. The wind blows lightly.
There is a close-up of Hazel's face, covered in shadow but unreadable expression still visible. The wind still blows.
Hazel, thinking: That's not fair.

I started thinking of modern AU ideas for the characters, I thought it might be fun. This is the first of a few sketches I've been doing: Juthiel and Frederik hanging out. #opalineflute

Monochrome art of two original characters. The man to the left is crouched near the ground dressed in a flowing shirt and jeans with a sweater over his shoulders. He's holding a container of french fries. A drink is on the ground next to him. The man on the right stands closer to the wall. He's dressed in a leather jacket and jeans. He is using a cane in his left hand. Both men are staring to the right at something out of view.
