That's most likely because the only "adult" media they know of is Family Guy, Rick and Morty and TADC and they think all "adult media" characters are like Peter, Rick and Jax. I still like a lot of kids' media but I acknowledge they have to be simplified because they're, you know, for kids.

(The old joke in question had a politician die, spend a day in Heaven which is just worship and choir singing, spend a day in Hell where he golfs and drinks and is told to choose where they want to spend eternity. They choose Hell and get tortured forever. The nicer Hell was just Satan "campaigning"

The 1999 movie was at least memorable; I barely remember anything about the Flanagan version. The 1999 version also inspired me to watch the 1963 version and read the book; hopefully some people who watched the Flanagan version were inspired to do the same.

Poor Vivian. I get the impression that Wolf Vivian's personality comes from a part of Human Vivian she keeps hidden. In human form, she probably wants to describe her gaming experiences in great detail, but is worried about being seen as "cringe" or being judged.

This was kinda a thought I had about Big Betty/Barry. He's an excavator who wants to be human and non-humans wanting humanity is commonly seen as a trans allegory, but he actually is a trans man. I also wondered if I should just say fuck it and reveal Derek as a trans man too.

It's a bit like saying the "horror movie levels" of video games set at a movie studio - which are usually just an old Victorian mansion with bedsheet ghosts as enemies - represent horror as a whole, taking something many, but not all, of them have and saying the whole genre is like that.

Saying horror is about love is a bit like saying a story isn't a horror story unless it has a vampire or another supernatural monster. Love is a big part of Dracula, for example, but vampires are another big part and not every horror story has vampires.
