Agreed. But The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite is the most fun to sing.

Tarantino keeps a notebook full of names he hears or thinks up, to use in future projects. I’ve gotta do something similar because I hate coming up with names. Even if it’s a normal name I’ll get to the point where I think ‘oh, I know someone with that name. What if they think this is about them?’

Just out of curiosity I decided to see what October in my hometown is like right now. Sigh… Halloween *is* a lot better down here, but I do miss actual fall weather. If this isn’t the last heatwave of the year I swear to god…

I specifically chose a shirt that wasn’t Twin Peaks or Lynch related. It wasn’t until I got in line that I realized I had a sly little reference after all.

Yesterday @ambergir.bsky.social and I went to B&N at the Grove in order to meet Kyle MacLachlan at the book launch for his new memoir. It was a quick moment, no time to really chat, but he was very nice to everyone. Now I have to wait for after Halloween to read it. #TwinPeaks #Booksky

I’m the same way. Satan’s Pilgrims is an instrumental surf band, I chose them because I wanted something a little more energetic to shake things up. Normally I’ll listen to film scores or shoegaze stuff like Cocteau Twins or Precocious Neophyte where you aren’t really paying attention to lyrics.

Ah that’s the stuff. It would be hard to call the 80s a golden age of television, but I do think there’s real skill in that 25 episode a year, no serialization allowed style of storytelling that’s been lost, and it’s a real shame.

Part of what made Halloween so great were all the special episodes of the shows I watched where suddenly the supernatural would take over, or there’d maybe it was just an excuse for the costume department to go all out. I remember watching this when it aired, most likely with my grandmother.

I’m finding it real hard to get into the Halloween spirit this year. To combat that I’ve decided to focus more on the spooky stuff from my youth. So… uhm… #NowWatching Highway to Heaven season 2 episode 5: the Devil and Jonathan Smith Michael Berryman as the devil! #Horrorsky

I think it holds up great. This one’s got the goods. When I worked at Blockbuster I was in charge of ordering horror films and ordered this in. The owner took it down because it was too graphic. I convinced him that was sexist BS because he had 4 copies of Human Centipede 2 on the new release wall.

#NowWatching Food of the Gods (1976) A goofy childhood fave, one I haven’t seen in quite a long time. Been wanting to revisit it, and today I do so in honor of the recently deceased Marjoe Gortner. #Horrorsky #Filmsky

I got into surf rock in a big way at my college station. Satan’s Pilgrims, Red Elvises, Man of Astro-Man? and bands of that ilk really reinvigorated my love of music when I was feeling generally unenthusiastic.

The Thing I can’t guarantee I saw it this young, but it’s my first solid movie memory. Being at my friends house and his older brother started watching it on HBO. The last image is from the goddamned Ewok movie but that cursed water trap really disturbed me.

Thriller I distinctly remember hiding behind the couch for. I liked the song but the video freaked me out. I remember staying over at a friends house and them gathering around the tv to watch it, because MTV would advertise when it would be aired.

Tales From The Darkside isn’t a show I watched a ton of, but the episodes themselves were rarely scary if I did see them. Bit that intro still freaks me out a bit. The second image is from a Punky Brewster Halloween episode that traumatized all of us.

Hard to determine, because I was scared of everything back then. But I’ve narrowed it down to these four things from the early 80s that I remember seeing and having to leave the room. Each of them would have been when I was between the ages of 4 & 6.

There’s some of it in the original too. Such an awful speed bump in so many otherwise classic films of my youth.

Well that was… fun. Pretty slight. As goofy as expected. The best parts were all the God of Death stuff, as the invisibility effects were decidedly less impressive than the ones in the original Universal film.

it didn’t do it for me. There’s a lot I like but also the pacing was real weird. Probably explained by the fact that Jamie Foxx, after accepting the role, refused to fly or film on boats, meaning they had to completely rewrite the film on the fly.

Baron Giallo @theworkingdead.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Do you know which version you watched? Mann recently went back and re-cut the film (like he has with every single film he’s ever made at this point), and I’m very curious about that. This one is weird: it’s a very quietly influential movie on 2000s action and that generation of film critics, but

Every year Beyond Fest designs a shirt memorializing someone recently lost. You can’t buy them, but they toss 4-5 into the audience at each screening. We missed this years Tim Curry, but organizers found a few leftover Lynch shirts from last year and @ambergir.bsky.social caught one for me!

it throughout. The climax, when it comes, features an almost literal bit of cheerleading, priming the audience for something truly insane, and then it just does what it’s been doing for the previous hour and change. Still… I didn’t hate it.

Ok one more thought. I think I might have pinpointed my major issue with the movie, and it’s something I bring up a lot; the problem of escalation. Maika Monroe starts the film at full psycho, and there’s not many places to go from there. Eventually that becomes the films major mode and it stays in

I feel about it. But it was definitely missing something and I can’t put my finger on it. I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out. I think everyone who interacts with my posts will appreciate it. It comes out wide next month, and I probably won’t see it again but I wouldn’t be opposed.

know if I liked it or not. It’s funny, it’s scary, it’s well directed and has great performances from everyone involved, anchored by a very committed Maika Monroe. The crowd loved it and I had a lot of fun. But something didn’t connect with me. It seemed… fake somehow? That sounds too mean for how

Back home from Victorian Psycho. It’s a little hard to gauge a films quality at one of these screenings because the Beyond Fest audience is very receptive; always into it and super energetic. So I spent the drive home trying to organize my thoughts and I’m afraid I still don’t #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Toxic Zombies is a movie I feel very personally attached to. Saw it at my cousins house and got so scared I stayed in the hallway and listened to them watch it. Spent years trying to find it, and now with the internet I can watch the very Commander USA episode we would have been watching in 1988.

Three issues of This Place is Full Of Fiendish things and the paper bags they came in.

The first two covers all feature children in Halloween costumes: a skull-faced ghost, a witch, and a pirate/strongman. Third cover is a more ghoulish skull-faced ghost holding a pumpkin shaped candy bucket.
