Time enough for one more horror flick before bed. #NowWatching Hokum (2026) And it’s a Halloween horror flick! Even better. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

My preorder for @joeytainment.bsky.social’s new book, We’ve Been Here the Whole Time, arrived a few days ago. I’ve mostly been reading horror stuff (‘tis the season), but what better day to crack this one open than today? Happy indigenous peoples day! #Booksky
Paperback copy of We’ve Been Here the Whole Time! A not so sacred guide to all things Native American. There’s a caricature of musty old Christopher Columbus holding a sign that reads ‘it’s my fault for EVERYTHING’

Time for another break from horror. #NowWatching The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) This film, and even moreso Nikos Kazantzskis’s novel, were really important to me in my early 20s, but it’s been almost two decades since I’ve revisited this. #Filmsky

Good morning, #Horrorsky Starting my day with another Amicus portmanteau film. #NowWatching The House That Dripped Blood (1971) There is a house in this one, unlike Dr Terror’s House Of Horror, but there’s not a drop of blood. #Filmsky

Monster-palooza Mission #2: Twin Peaks! Added some autographs to my soundtrack, which has been gaining signatures since 1999 (see below). I met Ray Wise briefly last year, but this is my first time meeting Sherilyn Fenn and she was lovely! #TwinPeaks #Horrorsky

Simon Bamford is the nicest person I’ve ever met at a con (he was Butterball in Hellraiser and Ohnaka in Nightbreed). Chatted with us for quite awhile and was really friendly and engaging.
Ohnaka character photo from Nightbreed. Just a friendly looking dude with a necklace of rooster heads and large sun tattoos around his nipples.

Went to Monster-Palooza today. The con felt kinda small this year. Not as many cool vendors or artists, it felt like. But that’s fine: we had missions! Mission #1: Hellraiser stars Doug Bradley, Simon Bamford, & Ashley Laurence. #Horrorsky #Filmsky

Wanted to rewatch Koji Shiraishi’s Senritsu Kaiki File Kowasugi series only to find that all English subbed versions had been scrubbed from the internet. Found a post from the subtitler, who removed them because an official English release is in the works! Exciting news! #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Ok back to some comfort rewatches. #NowWatching A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 This used to be my favorite Nightmare, and while I’m not sure that’s still the case it’s clearly a high water mark for the series. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Been doing a lot of rewatches, time for something new. A Record of Sweet Murder (2014)) Kinki, despite my somewhat tepid response, gave me the urge to watch more Koji Shiraishi films. I’ve seen a dozen films and that’s still barely 10% of his work, so there’s lots to explore. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

There’s also a cellar spider that’s taken up residence above our front door for the past couple months. She’s named it ‘Bob’ and greets it every morning and afternoon.

My youngest loves jumping spiders, and yesterday heading out to pick her up from school I found a big one I knew she’d want to see, so I caught it briefly to show her. How much does she love jumping spiders? Check the photos. She was so excited and thought it was adorable.

#NowWatching Tales From The Crypt (1972) I have a huge fondness for Amicus productions, specifically their portmanteau films. I saw a mutual was watching Asylum today, and it put me in mind to watch these. Hell maybe that’s another series I’ll run, 7 films in all. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Still cleaning, still picking a movie I’ve seen dozens of times as background noise. #NowWatching A Nightmare on Elm Street I might use this as a launching pad to re-run the series. It’s been a few years. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Good morning, #Horrorsky. Feeling kind of productive today so starting with a mostly background viewing while I tidy up. #NowWatching The Beyond I’ve seen this dozens of time, so right now it’s just for the mood, and that wonderful Fabio Frizzi score, while I clean the living room. #Filmsky

Look, I’m sorry to be sharing a Pluggers strip, but I’m frankly disturbed and excited by the new direction this strip seems to be taking. Here’s hoping we get a full month of strips inspired by New French Extremity horror. #Horrorsky

Hard to determine, because I was scared of everything back then. But I’ve narrowed it down to these four things from the early 80s that I remember seeing and having to leave the room. Each of them would have been when I was between the ages of 4 & 6.

Every year Beyond Fest designs a shirt memorializing someone recently lost. You can’t buy them, but they toss 4-5 into the audience at each screening. We missed this years Tim Curry, but organizers found a few leftover Lynch shirts from last year and @ambergir.bsky.social caught one for me!

Back home from Victorian Psycho. It’s a little hard to gauge a films quality at one of these screenings because the Beyond Fest audience is very receptive; always into it and super energetic. So I spent the drive home trying to organize my thoughts and I’m afraid I still don’t #Filmsky #Horrorsky

I ended up really enjoying Kinki, but kinda wish it hadn’t been sold as ‘the scariest movie of the fest.’ It was good, it was creepy, but it was also kinda corny and cheap (not necessarily a complaint). In other words, pretty standard fare for Koji Shiraishi. #Filmsky #Horrorsky
